Lux Carne

Let's set the scene: it's a sunny/scorching afternoon at the Locarno Film Festival, you are sweating profusely and are attending a screening of the Pardi Di Domani selection. Lux Carne starts and 18 minutes later... your blood has run cold. Gabriel Grosclaude's graduation short film is an admirably well-executed ethical nightmare. Mr. Grosclaude and his team created a short fiction that feels as if Okja, Children of Men, and The Shining were blended. The acting, cinematography, sound, costumes, setting, editing, music... are excellent and the story's theme is ambivalently told. Viewers make up their minds about speciesism and their cognitive dissonance. Personally, I decided to stop exploiting and killing fellow sentient beings a couple of years ago. #GoVegan 🌱
