DELIVERED. 'Olympo' completely blew me away. It dives into the brutal, beautiful world of elite sports-not just the obvious ones like rugby, cycling, or athletics, but also artistic swimming, which honestly deserves so much more respect. It's easily one of the hardest, most underrated sports out there, and I think this might be the first drama I've ever seen that puts it front and center. That alone makes it worth watching.

But it's not just about the sport. The show captured everything: the mental toll, the physical pain, the pressure from the outside world, and even worse-the pressure athletes put on themselves. It doesn't sugarcoat anything. You see the ugly side too: corrupt scouts, cheating, doping, the constant fear of not being enough. And the scary part? It all felt so real.

When Amaia said, "Sport is dead," it hit. Because sometimes, it really does feel like that. The purity of competition? The love for the game? It gets lost in all the noise. And most people outside the sports world don't even realize how deep that rot goes.

But weirdly, this show made me fall in love with sports again. As an athlete, it reminded me of what's still worth fighting for, and for the first time in a while, I believe in the spirit of sport again.

The casting? Spot on. The acting? So real I forgot I was watching fiction. The story? I binged it in less than 24 hours. So yeah. Highly recommend. Whether you're a die-hard sports fan or just love good drama. Season 2 when?

I started writing a review on this yesterday after watching only 3 episodes, but I ended up finishing all episodes and it kinda changed my mind (a bit).

Olympo is absolutely ridiculous. The plot makes about as much sense as putting ketchup on tiramisu (zero). Characters for about 90% of the 8 episodes are extremely unlikeable, except for maybe two of them. None of their actions, motives, reactions make any sense at all but I still found it entertaing.

I don't know if this will get picked up for a second season but if it does, I honestly can't wait to see the ridiculous "storylines" the characters will get in the future.

SEASON 1 Olympo is a Spanish Netflix series that dives headfirst into the world of elite youth athletics-but not in the way you'd expect. Set in the fictional Pirineos High Performance Center, the show starts as a sleek teen sports drama and slowly reveals a much darker, more sinister underbelly involving performance-enhancing drugs, institutional pressure, and psychological manipulation.

The story follows Amaia, a dedicated synchronized swimmer and team captain, who begins to suspect something isn't right when her best friend suddenly outperforms her. As she digs deeper, the series escalates into a tense conspiracy surrounding experimental doping and how far young athletes-and the adults around them-are willing to go for glory.

Visually, the show is stunning. The cinematography and production design feel polished and modern, and the use of water, mirrors, and slow-motion sequences really amplify the emotional weight and physical toll of the sport. The cast, particularly Clara Galle as Amaia and María Romanillos as Núria, deliver solid performances that balance internal conflict and teenage vulnerability.

However, Olympo is not without flaws. Some character arcs feel underdeveloped, the pacing can be uneven, and the show occasionally leans into melodrama more than it needs to. There are moments where the emotional beats feel rushed, and certain plot twists are a bit too convenient. Still, the themes-ambition, exploitation, identity, and bodily autonomy-are strong enough to carry the series, especially as it builds toward a cliffhanger ending that suggests there's more to uncover.

It's not subtle, and it's definitely not family-friendly, but Olympo manages to be both thought-provoking and entertaining. Fans of Elite, Élite Short Stories, Black Swan, or even Spinning Out will likely find something to latch onto here.

This is a calculated effort to gain all possible eyes on a tv show at the same time with baits, people consume and love it, the streaming numbers don't lie as it stands on top of numerous countries at the moment.

That said, there's eye candy for all possible tastes and i won't criticize that. It's part of the very premise, a teen show for people who wish to fantasize or see a drama with attractive people unfold, that's the very premise of the creation of this, so i won't throw stones on anyone for creating a product with demand.

I also saw a person here talking about pushing an agenda when the show itself criticizes the usage of LGBT people by big marketing corporations to pretend they're good people, using an actual cause as a marketing strategy ( LGBT people don't like to be used by corporations as well, they just want safety ) so i don't think they even watched the whole show because that is the arc of one of the main characters. They just seem to have personal beef with a random group for their own, possibly disingenuous personal reasons.

Anyways, that said... it's a very good premise with decent pacing and an okay writing that at certain key moments is very good, some of the actors are very good and fit the role perfectly while looking like real athletes ( and quite possibly being real athletes ) so i really gotta give that to them, they really worked out and got toned to look the part and it's amazing, kudos !

The pacing is great, they set up things and give it time to sink in and are good with setting cliffhangers, the story makes you keep wanting more.

The only complaint i have with this is some of the very nonsensical acts commited by some of the characters ( i understand some might have personality or affective disorders, so i'm not talking about that ) i just mean bad planning and disregard for obvious details that get them in trouble later on, but that is normal for this kind of show, so i won't give it a hard time for it either.

It's decent, fun, eye candy for teens ( or even elders, adults who like the genre idk ) something you watch in a day just to feel some thrill and have a little fun with the dramas and conspiracies, i know i did, a friend of mine was watching and i was honestly grabbed by the plot and the mistery, it was pretty fun.

It's a 7/10 for me, it's lightly above average but not excellent or groundbreaking, but it is very fun.

Put this on my watch list because it was a new release at Netflix, not knowing what I was getting into. Seemed like there were some familiar faces right away reminding me of "Elite" characters and that's the only other Spanish drama I ever watched so must be deliberate as this has a similar vibe.

This is just one big exaggeration of the sports training world - these are excellent athletes that haven't even qualified yet for the elite teams. They are trying to qualify. In real life sponsorships aren't done like some secret society with special gold medallion necklaces, athletes don't disappear or get locked up for weeks with experimental quack doctors, and are these "strong" athletes really so "weak" they can't stand up to their directors of the program? Only one girl cares enough for her friend to try and do something? And that girl is cold as all heck to her jerk boyfriend?

Then add in the sex scenes to make it spicy. IMO they are too chopped up anyway as they cut from a gay scene to a straight scene and cut back again quickly it is all too discombobulated. But Netflix could have a better rating than just MA (for Mature). For example, other services I pay for have warnings like BL or includes BL, so that you know what kind of show it is before selecting it. You should be able to have a choice before investing time into it.

Gave it a low rating because did not care for the ending - figured it is open ended in case they want another season.
