Episode 2

The storyline develops slowly and beautifully. Legal drama becomes enjoyable when it's a serialized show rather than a case-per-episode format. In my opinion, episode two is the real starting point of the series, with the rejection of the settlement and the beginning of the investigation and evidence gathering. I'm excited for the next episode.

Ep 2 quickly transitions the legal drama from a simple underdog story to a high-stakes thriller. With Rudy and Deck now fully embroiled in a conflict with the hospital, the episode shifts from courtroom antics to a literal leverage war, punctuated by a truck crashing through a motel room.

The episode expertly ratchets up the tension. The discovery of a crucial, albeit inadmissible, piece of evidence and Rudy's risky but effective move to use it in court shows his growing strategic cunning. However, his personal life begins to unravel as his girlfriend, Sarah, betrays him, leaking information about his past to the opposition. This quiet, strategic betrayal is a powerful twist that sets up a compelling conflict for the season.

The episode leans heavily into its supporting cast, with Lana Parrilla and John Slattery delivering sharp, captivating performances that elevate every scene they are in. While the romantic subplot feels rushed, a poignant moment at the end grounds the episode, reminding viewers that beneath the legal maneuvering lies a core story of grief and justice.

The episode cements the central case as a long, drawn-out fight, setting a thrilling pace for what's to come.

My overall opinion of the show hasnt changed given this new episode. The show has promise but the lead actor/character Ruby Baylor is definitely carried by the rest of the cast and plot itself. He constantly is just a punching bag to bosses, opposition and even his own client and doesnt talk to defend himself. The writing really doesnt his character any good. We see more development from his girlfriend who had less than 6 minutes in the whole episode.
