Liu Guang Yin

A really great movie that I stumbled upon by chance and ended up watching it all in one go. The acting is very good and natural, the costumes are superb, the fight scenes are impressive. I laughed until I cried at Han Zi Jing's attempts to dodge 'marital duty,' as well as many other moments. The humor is simple but feels cleaner compared to what we've been seeing lately, and I missed that kind of thing. Even the secondary characters play an important role in the course of events and, without them, many obstacles couldn't have been overcome.

I won't give any spoilers about the storyline, but this is one of my first encounters with Chinese cinema, and honestly, I'm impressed.

I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of this time travel series. It has a well-written story, well-executed, an amazing female lead with a male lead that loves her a lot but at times fails to protect her. The 2nd ML is even more amazing than the ML in his devotion to the Fl and it's not a surprise that I was rooting for him. The fighting scenes are phenomenal and our FL is a real fighter but the she appears to be attacked at every episode leaving her with lots of pain and bloodshed that I thought it's amazing she can survive. The Ml swore to protect her but he often fails or only saves her after she goes through torture and captivity. The repetitions get annoying at times. There are a few annoying side plots and characters which could have been excluded in this series and perhaps shorten the number of episodes and it would have been perfect. The cinematography and costumes are top-notch. As it stands, the series was slightly long and most disappointingly there was a hurried ending which didn't make sense. Thus, although I enjoyed this series, I can only give it 8 and not 10.
