The movies was meh. The acting of the main character was terrible. Also Shanu's makeup was flat. There was no story line. I felt like I'm watching a movie that goes 2X faster.
The music was all Indian copies also the background were too dramatic for the story.
The story line was easily predictable.

I watched Neera expecting at least a decent story, but it turned out to be a total letdown. The acting was really poor specially from lead roles, none of the performances felt genuine or emotional. It's like the cast was just reciting lines without any real connection to their roles. The plot had potential, but the weak direction and awkward dialogue made it hard to sit through. Overall, Neera just doesn't deliver in any area, and it's definitely not something I'd recommend.
If you decide not to watch Neera just because of bad ratings, you're truly going to miss a golden movie. This film carries a heartfelt story that shines through its romance, drama, and musical elements. One of the brightest highlights is Shanudrie Priyasad's magical performance as Praneethi. She brings such depth, innocence, and emotion to the character that every scene she appears in feels alive and meaningful. For anyone who loves emotional, soul touching cinema, Neera is a rare gem absolutely worth experiencing.
This movie was really overhyped. It tries to be deep and emotional, but honestly, it's not that serious. Some parts do make you think a little, but it's all pretty basic.
Most of the time, it felt super cringe - from the acting to the dialogue. Still, a few scenes were funny (even if they weren't meant to be), and there were some emotional moments that kind of worked.
The best part was the cinematography. It looked beautiful, even if the story didn't live up to it.
Final Thoughts: Cringe but watchable. Not deep, but tries to be. Nice visuals.

Honestly, I felt Neera was just an average movie. The storyline didn't impress me at all-it felt poor, unrealistic, and kind of all over the place. What really stood out for me was the picture quality and the music. The songs were superb, and throughout the movie they hit me hard, bringing back past memories and life events. If I'm being real, the music was the only thing that kept me engaged. Some scenes and quotes were nice too, but beyond that, the story just didn't work for me.
One thing that bothered me was how careless the attention to details were. For example, the way they showed the divorce filing process was completely wrong-it's not at all how it works in Sri Lanka. Small things like that matter, especially in a movie meant for the Sri Lankan audience.
And then, the whole storyline... it really felt like a "fruit salad." Things were just scattered everywhere. I didn't like how the movie created a bad perception about men either. It felt like it was unnecessarily trying to boost feminism by dragging down the male side. Take Mega's character-after the miscarriage, the way he acted desperate is something that's possibly can see happening in real life. That's normal. But the movie turned it into something extreme, creating a whole new perception that doesn't feel practical.
The pen-pal Neera story? Honestly, I think it sucked. That whole angle didn't make sense and only distracted from the real storyline. The movie could have been much stronger if it focused more on the emotional side of the miscarriage and how the family handled it.
At the end of the day, it's just another movie. I'll give credit for the music and visuals because they were amazing, but the story itself felt weak and kind of forced. I've also noticed a lot of girls posting male-downgrading stuff on social media after watching this, which I think is exactly what this film unnecessarily fueled.
