This movie intends to offer a sarcastic take on the everyday hypocrisies in society, like the peeping-tom mindset, moral policing, the "male gaze", and the undercurrent of extra-marital affairs. While the events leading to the climax are decent and the ending shot is really great, it is sad that the plot is given away in the very beginning and there are not enough engaging moments to keep you glued to the screen. It is almost just good enough for second-screen viewing, where you know what is going to happen and you just watch it because there is still something raw and natural about the making and the dialogues.

The Kanhangad language and slangs do not feel artificial or exaggerated, which is great. And it feels refreshing to see some good actors too on the screen. Especially Unni Raja (Marimayam fame), Renji Kankol (although very similar to his usual roles), and Dhanesh Koliyat, who played the brother-in-law.

The movie is not bad, but it does not have enough substance to be made into a movie. The politics it tries to discuss is very relevant and will remain relevant for another three or four decades considering how backward-thinking Malayalis are. A classic example from recent times is Anumol winning the Bigg Boss show.

Anyway, coming back to the point, I would say Avihitham is a light and easy watch on an evening when you just want to relax and not really care about anything, even what is happening in the movie.

The premise, the setting, characters and cinematography and script (atleast for the most part) was pretty good - realistic and rustic.

But the main problem was the pacing and editing and a very weak and almost illogical climax.

It is sad as the characters and acting were really good and deserved a better treatment.

Verdict - Watchable - but you might fast forward quite a lot and does not warrant a repeat watch.

Avihitham is such a fun watch! After a while, I finally got to see a movie where the plot is simple but thrilling. We're thrown right into the deep end from the start, but the writer knows how to keep us engaged for the full two hours, delivering a really fun screenplay. The casting is excellent, and the acting brings everything to life.

This isn't the kind of movie you'd necessarily rush to the cinema for, but it's definitely worth watching and recommending. You can tell a movie is good when you start guessing and trying to solve the riddle along the way. It's never dull, never boring, and there were a few good laughs-or at least moments that left me with a bright smile on my face. Well done, everyone. I hope to see more like this!

I would give it a 10 if there were a bit more depth to it, maybe some extra thrills or a deeper dive into the plot. But since it's a simple, delightful movie at heart, I'm rating it a solid 9.

Director Senna Hegde, known for Thinkalazhcha Nishchayam, is back with another solid film, Avihitham. Once again, he brings us a story set in the Kanjangad-Kasaragod region, with realistic characters and local flavor.

The film doesn't have a big or complicated plot. In fact, the trailer and title already give us an idea of what's going to happen. But that doesn't matter - because the strength of Avihitham lies in its sharp writing and great performances.

Even though there are no big stars, every actor does a fantastic job. Their natural acting makes the story feel very real and relatable. The humor comes from simple situations and daily life, and it works really well.

There's also a smart and funny touch with the Ramayana references - especially the Rama, Ravana and Sita angle - which adds a deeper layer to the story.

Overall, Avihitham is a clean, no-nonsense film that's both funny and enjoyable. It's a great example of how good storytelling and strong acting can make a simple film really entertaining.
