I love myself a good, old-fashioned, cheesy, Christmas rom-com. This was not it. I tried to let things slide but then the movie quickly slid away. The fiancé bit lasted 10 minutes and never played into the storyline again. There was no order or sense to the plot. The villain was the lamest villain I've ever seen and their "payback" was juvenile at best. More time was spent on a montage of Christmas decorating than on the character development. This was more of a "women can do it too" movie than a romance. The final act came out of left field and felt like an after-thought's after-thought. But, kudos to them for trying.
I was intrigued by Season 1 and enjoyed its conclusion. However, by Season 2, the writers seemed undermine everything they built in Season 1. The character building and the story were each chopped at the knees leaving me feeling like the writers should have used their own advice and hired a writing coach for help.
Season 2 love interests were beyond laughable and actually annoying. Characters they once invested in were suddenly written off. Characters and storylines I once cheered for in Season 1 were now ones I couldn't stand. Most of Season 2 was not believable - character choices didn't make sense based on who they were in Season 1. Season 2 had too many celebrity appearances as well.
I'd rewatch Season 1 again and just pretend Season 2 never happened.

An uplifting and heartwarming story about facing life's challenges and the ones who help get us through it. Sprinkled with comedic moments, but takes a more thoughtful approach as you walk with Bea as she navigates life.
I saw this with several co-workers and several sniffles were heard through the theater. In an interview with John Krasinski, he implied this was a love letter to his children. In this film, I could see the beautiful reassurance of a parent tenderly encouraging his children that life can be happy despite its challenges. Everything seemed to be intentional from the music, to the sets, to the various characters.
I highly recommend.
