There are more and more adaptations of video game worlds, rather than specific games. I enjoy both, but it's true that it's much easier to respect a setting - or rather, take advantage of a well-developed universe as a base to create something new - than to reflect and respect an already existing work of art.

With the understanding that we shouldn't compare specific stories... it's fair to compare characters, and that's not its strong point, but I'll set that aside.

The pilot and a few random episodes I found pretty enjoyable. There are well-designed characters that manage to convey emotions. But that's not enough, since a very simplistic script, with the pacing of a first-time story and an absurd number of pathetic secondary characters, ruins all the hard work.

The production is generally fine, but I wouldn't call it remarkable by any means. Music, art, settings, etc... decent, but nothing special.

I expected more from the project overall, not just because the franchise has a lot of potential, but because Netflix has had successful precedents, like Castlevania.

The first season is enjoyable for those who are just looking for action, but insufficient for those who expect more depth. The good news is that the next season has an easy task of raising the bar.

I discovered Minecraft not long after its original release. Someone I knew showed it to me, though I can't even remember who - it didn't leave any impression. I saw a clunky game that didn't appeal to me at all. The rest is history... but not mine, since I've ignored it ever since (and yes, I do play a lot of video games - a lot).

The idea of making a movie wasn't just commercially sound - there was real potential to build something creative and fun. Who knows, maybe thanks to its box office success, something better will come in the future.

But what we've got here is a big pile of garbage. And that's a shame, because I actually liked the cast - each and every actor involved is someone I enjoy watching.

The visuals were heavily criticized after the first trailers dropped, but I didn't think they were that bad.

The real issue is that there's barely a movie here. A shallow plot, nonstop dumb dialogue... And I'm not even talking about the fan-service moments - those are actually well done - but there aren't that many of them either.

This is a product only for fans... or maybe just for very young kids. As for me, I think it's a steaming turd.

When I first saw the trailer for this series, it didn't pass my filter - the art direction was borderline nauseating to me. I found it hideous. And no, I'm not saying it's poorly made; you can clearly see the intention and craftsmanship behind it - it's just not for me on that front.

However, once only two or three episodes had been released, I started reading very positive reviews, so I forced myself to give it a chance - and it absolutely deserved it.

Putting aside the visuals (which I still find awful), everything else is outstanding. The pacing is excellent, and the way they introduce new, interesting characters - each with compelling backgrounds and niche references - is something I appreciate far more than the average viewer.

The story is classic in the sense that we've seen countless tales about big pharma, conflicts of interest, lies, and so on... but it adds originality through its small details, which gives it a soul of its own - something many other productions lack entirely.

It's definitely not for everyone. I don't think it caters to all tastes - and I actually believe that works in its favor. But you have to enjoy this kind of strong, niche brew.

I'd sum it up as the antithesis of a run-of-the-mill Netflix production - and that's always a good thing.
