So I'll start with the positives. Superman is a good movie that I think most people will enjoy watching, especially if you have teenage kids.
There are some good actions scenes, a couple in particular being great. And it's probably one of the best movies I've watched that's made me feel as though I've watched a comic book come to life.
I think the humour will be hit and miss for a lot of people. Personally, I mostly enjoyed the humour and, while I didn't burst out laughing at any point, I did chuckle a few times.
I'm part of the brigade that really doesn't like politics and moral lecturing in movies, so I was a little concerned about 'super woke' being bandied around social media over the weekend. But, to be clear, this movie is not 'woke' or political (at least, it's not obvious or forceful).
The negatives. Superman has and, in my opinon, always should be, a symbol of strength and hope. This version of Superman is weak, insecure, unserious, unintelligent, and a host of other things that are the opposite of what Superman should be and represent.
While the plot and supporting actors such as Lex and Louise were generally pretty good, there were a couple of glaringly bad plot holes that made me raise my eyebrows.
In summary, Superman is a fun popcorn movie, but expect to go in watching a sub-par version of Guardians of the Galaxy with a less funny version of Peter Quill.

So I gave a pretty scathing review for season 1 (primarily due to unforgivable deviation from source material + found it generally lacking). Season 2 was an improvement but still flawed.
First 3 episodes of season 3 and... @#!& I am in complete shock at the drastic improvements. Yes, there are still book deviations, but I actually felt immersed in the Wheel of Time world for the first time since watching the TV series.
I hate to compare it to Game of Thrones but the reality is that GOT set the standard bar (minus last couple of seasons) for how to do complex fantasy series on the big screen. The first three episodes of season 3 made me feel as though I was watching something close to that level in terms of great casting, political intrigue, and solid production value.
It's a shame (albeit deserved) that many people have probably checked out after the first two seasons but, for the people that stuck it out, you're about to experience something that has the potentiall to be better than Game of Thrones (if they keep improving like this).

If this movie was released 10 years ago, it would be classed as a fun movie to kill 2 hours of time watching. Nothing more, nothing less.
However, since Marvel (and Hollywood in general) have so epically dropped the ball over and over again for the last few years, this movie is (at the time of writing) sat on an 8/10 rating. Personally, I think this demonstrates just how starved viewers currently are of movies that are made for the sake of entertainment (without the influence of politics).
My positive takes on the movie:
Negative takes:
In summary: A solid movie and mostly enjoyable. I'd definitely recommend giving it a watch, but don't buy into the 8 rating.

My positive takes on the movie:
- Some really great cameos from actors/characters I never thought I'd see on the big screen again. And, unlike Star Wars, the cameos didn't come across as desperate ploys to bring back fans, they actually fit into the movie rather well
- Action scenes were great
- Hugh Jackman, as always, played a great Wolverine
- There were some great touches for comic book fans, such as Wolverine finally wearing his proper suit
- Some pretty fun moments (deservedly) mocking the Marvel head honchos
Negative takes:
- The jokes were way way over done. They started out funny but after an hour of similar jokes, they became rather grating
- The script was very poor in places. Towards the end I considered walking out of the cinema because the story became a bit nonsensical. The nostaligia of seeing Hugh Jackman and other actors was the only thing that kept me in my seat towards the end
- The movie mocked the multi-verse (rightly so) but it also fell victim to the same issue that has plagued pretty much every Marvel movie since End Game - nobody cares about the multi-verse. At this point, Marvel have completely butchered whatever phase this is supposed to be, and they need to move on to another background arc if they want to salvage the mess they have created.
In summary: A solid movie and mostly enjoyable. I'd definitely recommend giving it a watch, but don't buy into the 8 rating.
