I'm a huge fan out the Fallout IP (up until they released the absolute mess known as Fallout 76). They rank up there as some of my favourite video games of all time.
When I heard Amazon were going to adapt a TV series I was horrified. I expected a hot diverse mess (I still get shivers down my spine thinking about what Netflix did to Resident Evil). So much so that I waited months after release to watch it, only because a few friends of mine assured me it wasn't a diverse mess. Thankfully, they were right. It was brilliant! True to it's source material and extremely clever storyline.
Acting was brilliant. I particularly enjoyed 'the journey' that Ella Purnell's character went through. This is a series of mystery and discovery. It posed enough question to keep me interested and solved them all in a fantastic final episode.
I did find it a bit slow to get going, after 3 episodes I was on the fence. But it is worth sticking with. You will be rewarded at the end. I really hope it gets another series.

2 hours of J-Lo just being hysterical all the way through. Thee end.
Oh? I have to write more? Ok.
It felt like a movie written for one character. Almost like a vanity project. They give J-Lo 95%+ screen time. I can't quite put my finger on what made it so bad. Simu Liu and Mark Strong were criminally underutilized. The whole movie about catching the villain, yet there's almost no character building for him. It was all so hollow and easily could have been done as part of a 40 minute episode. So little happened in 2 hours.
It clearly had a good budget and the story had decent premise (if unoriginal) but this was very poorly made. This genre is absolutely up my street but this is 2 hours I'll never get back. Avoid.

Squid game is an absolute masterpiece and in my top 3 shows of all time.
Stating the obvious, the subtitles necessitate you to give the show your undivided attention, if you don't you're wasting your time and missing a great opportunity.
The acting is next level, some of the best I've ever seen (yes....apart from the VIP's that really were that bad). The Korean actors are incredibly talented.
The writing was sensational. So many character arcs went full circle and it was as if every character has an incredible story to tell. Very few shows can make me emotional but squid game has me in pieces at several points. The developing relationships between different characters is beautiful.
Don't be fooled by the premise of killer children's games, this show is so much more than that. Thank you to the cast and crew for a truly memorable, all time great.
After you watch the show, also watch 'squid game in conversation' where two of the main characters and the writer discuss the show. It's great to see the writers insights and what the actors made of their characters.
