Elsbeth goes on a tour of New York crime scenes and the guide tells the audience of an infamous slaying.
A mob hit at an Italian restaurant linked with a mafia crime family.
The restaurant's owner, Pupetta Del Ponte lost her entire family in a hit. She survived but something about the case rankles Elsbeth.
It does not make sense and she has the cold case reopened. Maybe the wrong person was accused of the deaths. Elsbeth contacts one of the original investigating officers.
The story is a bit of a diversion. There is less jeopardy and the infamous Judge Crawford is crowbarred into the story.

Ruth Ellis was the last woman to be hanged in 1955 for the murder of her lover, the race driver David Blakely.
Whereas the first two episodes of Ladykillers dealt with murderers from the Victorian era.
Here the events occurred 25 years earlier from the broadcast of the drama. As some real life characters would still be alive. Robert Morley cautions that some events have been fictionalised for the drama while others is based on true life testimony.
Georgina Hale does a good job in playing Ellis who cooly admitted her crime and was ready to take her punishment. Her legal team want to get her a life sentence than a death penalty.
Unfortunately the drama once again felt flat. Maybe it is the courtroom scenes which came across as dull. I never got a sense of the volatility between Ellis and Bentley or just what kind of person Ellis was.
There were later films about Ellis. Dance with a Stranger starring Miranda Richardson from 1985 is much better.

The second episode cliffhanger is resolved in an underwhelming manner. No quick regenation for the fifth Doctor.
The Doctor finally meets the Terileptil. He is a fugitive from justice. The Doctor offers to take him home but that is the last place he wants to go.
Instead he and his fellow fugitives will make Earth their home but there will be no coexistence with humans.
Strangely outside of Richard Mace, the alien is more urbane than the villagers in this episode.
