First thing's first: I'm not a paid influencer shill, most of Disney's recent theatrical output has been fairly substandard and Bob Iger's pledge to integrate AI-generated content into his precious little streaming is nothing short of an insult to the human passion and creativity that Walt himself imbued into this company.

With that being said, I quite enjoyed myself here! I would have been happy to just see Nick and Judy again, but fortunately everything that surrounds them is mostly enjoyable, from the immersive world-building to the much-improved comedic timing (Patrick Warburton's horse mayor character is an absolute riot). Other than a few spots it doesn't suffer from that annoying trend in modern movies where it feels like a sterile product made to please the general audience-these characters go through the motions and struggle with themselves in the face of uncertain fate.

Jared Bush clearly gets what the people want.

You know, in a perfect world Warner Bros. Discovery would put this on Cartoon Network instead of Adult Swim, market the heck out of it and ensure that this show would be considered a modern classic by kids and adults alike. But since we live in a world where memorable man-made art seems to be falling to the wayside in favor of soulless AI drivel for the sake of creatively depleted studio executives, we'll likely just have to settle with Invincible Fight Girl becoming a one-season cult classic that will no doubt become a tax write-off in a few years.

And just typing that hurts me to no end, because this episode alone is a damn triumph in every sense of the world. It acts a both a culmination of the themes established from previous episodes combined with a teaser for what lies ahead. The animation from Titmouse's Canada studio is absolutely breathtaking at points, selling the intensity of both fight scenes and simpler character interactions-miraculously well-done for a TV budget.

And that's not even delving into the plot of the thing! I'm not spoiling it for those that haven't caught up with the show yet, but much like the title suggests it does not hold back with what it wants to accomplish, and it's especially heartbreaking if you apply the context of the episode to real life.

To the IFG crew: I thank you for what you've done here. And to the stuffy executives in charge at WBD: if you want to kill art for good, at least give properties like this a chance before you do.

This is the pinnacle of animated superhero shows. This is everything we've been working towards. This is how you showcase character growth and plot development over the course of two seasons of television!

Truth be told, humanity is going through unprecedented, unpredictable and most certainly rough times right now. Maybe you're reading this review 5 years in the future and everything is a lot better...or worse. But a season finale like this showcases the best of people, no matter who they are, where they come from or what they choose to be.

We scream with joy when someone does something brave, heroic even. We cry when perfectly good people experience pain. We cringe when we do or say something awkward or foolish. We go silent when we feel like the world is bigger than ourselves. It's what makes us human.

But time does not define us. Trauma does not define us. We define us.

And that's what makes this such a beautiful conclusion.

Thank you Brandan, Josie and Jake for crafting something that goes beyond the typical "superhero adaptation but now it's an anime!!!" and turning it into a outstretched arm of hope for all of mankind.
