Movies I've Watched

by jhoole-74-658222 • Created 6 years ago • Modified 1 day ago
These are all the movies I have a clear recollection of having watched in order of how much I like them (no intent for a rating to objectively indicate level of quality). A 5 star rating represents a movie good enough that I'd happily watch it again.

The first film I saw, which I watched in a theater when it came out, that really challenged and moved me. It was entertaining, but had the feel of showing to me something real and disturbing about the world that I didn't already know. It got and remains under my skin because it doesn't let any of its characters lapse into conventional, stereotypical stances that let the viewer off the hook. Mookie isn't supposed to be the one who throws that garbage can!

Visually gorgeous movie with some arrestingly surreal images. The wonder and pain of the love story feels real. As with a good novel, I felt I was being allowed a window to a world I couldn't otherwise access. Seems to find its beauty and resonance without respect to the male gaze.
