THE DEFINITIVE LIST OF UPCOMING MOVIE SEQUELS, PREQUELS, REMAKES, AND SPIN-OFFS
As the title implies.... this is the largest and most comprehensive list on the IMDB that tackles the subject. My list is comprised of various sequels.... prequels.... remakes.... and spin-offs. This is a continuation of a list that I started on MySpace back in 2006.... which covered everything from rumored films to movies that were already in post-production. I've recently began adding shared universe movies as well. Some movies might not be straight up remakes.... but more of a re-imagining of the source material.... but they are few and far between. I've added some television series.... but only those that have their roots planted within feature films. Video game sequels.... fan-made appreciation projects, or any other project that doesn't tie into actual feature length film will not be featured on this list. I don't add literary adaptations to this list.... since technically they are not part of an existing movie franchise.... so in order for a project to be on this list it must be....
1.) A sequel or a prequel to a feature film.
2.) A remake of a feature film.
3.) Not a fan made film.
4.) Not a movie based on literary characters ("Aladdin", "Robinson Crusoe", "Pride & Prejudice", ect...). However.... I might add film adaptions of literary works that have already been turned into multiple movies and used the exact same title or slight variation of it ("Island of Dr. Moreau/"Island of Lost Souls).
5.) Not a video game sequel.
6.) Part of a shared universe (Marvel Cinematic Universe, DC Universe, Dark Universe, ect...)
7.) A spin-off that features characters or elements that have broken off into their own film (Penguins of Madagascar ect...)
8.) Television Shows that are based off of an existing movie property (Minority Report ect.)
