Very nice "nouvelle vague" movie from director Domingos de Oliveira.

This surrealist comedy is very loosely based on Brazilian dictatorship, but mocks military speech (and also many other things). It is not brilliant, but funny. Casseta & Planeta guys have been much funnier than in their conservative and without creativity later years.

Violent teenage film with interesting visual and in soundtrack, but a little boring too. The idea was better than the outcome. If the film decided to emphasize more the disturbing interest instead of showing so much and in so many details teenage stuff it would work better.

Very silly, but not bad. There are some funny moments, among them all the ones with Maria Clara Gueiros. On the other hand, most male characters are awful: the Argentine bar owner, Marcelo Adnet and Lúcio Mauro Filho are exceptions.

The story happens in Petrópolis, a town near Rio de Janeiro where royal family lived. It is an interesting film (although not properly good), at least in the beginning, particularly if you consider that it was made during the harsh 70's under military dictatorship (indeed, it has the goal of favoring patriotic feelings and never deviates from official and fake history). It begins better, but worsend as it becomes more and more similar to a soap opera.

Weird movie about misogyny, It is not properly great, but it deserves a mention.

Indeed, this is a BAD movie. Though, it is here because of the extremely funny character Miguel, played by great actor Caco Ciocler.

The forty first minutes of this nice Hollywood production happen mostly in Rio de Janeiro, but there are serious mistakes: some of the people there are obviously not Brazilians as they do not speak Portuguese as natives, soldiers from USA would not be allowed to enter Rocinha without Brazil considering it as a disrespect for the sovereignity of the country, and guaraná beverage is brown and not yellowish green! Beautiful Débora Nascimento deserved more time on screen.
