In Hamburg, Ibrahim "Ibo" Secmez, of Turkish descent, wants to direct the first German kung-fu movie. For now he makes commercials for his uncle's kebab restaurant. When Titzie, Ibo's aspiring-actress girlfriend, finds out that she's pregnant, Ibo's uncertainty about fatherhood is compounded by his own father's disowning him for getting a German girl pregnant--so Titzie sends him packing. He makes attempts at getting it right, but as the birth approaches, he's still not ready. In the background are three thugs in search of good tripe soup and a Capulet-Montague feud between the kebab joint and the Greek taverna across the street. Can Ibo be the glove upon that hand?

During the night, the Man meets his inner self, his past and his demons. He reviews his former life, looking for meaning among (and between) the multitudes of social mannerisms of his past. In his flashbacks, he meets up with his family, his wife and loved ones, and goes on a trip trough his (and thus every other) existence. The memories are presented as differently twisted TV shows. Flipping through the channels and aided by Godot, the Man follows his own train of thought, guiding the members of the audience to their own lifes' cores.

Sophie, a student of Egyptology as well as Christoph, an out-of-work actor, apply to a classified ad in the newspaper for a job. "Someone to look after my house for six weeks - good pay." It's a box number ad, and both get the job - with one not knowing about the other. They enter the house and meet each other. Sophie doesn't want to stay six weeks in a house with an unknown man. So thinks Christoph: he doesn't like the idea either. But, after the postman brought two registered letters with advance payment, they decide to try it. The rules say that both of them can do what they want in that house except one thing; there is one room which they are not allowed to enter, and is to remain locked. They barely agree to this arrangement when strange things begin to occur. Sophie and Christoph are looking after a house with a locked room - where everything (...or nothing) can be concealed from others. "All houses have a forbidden room" says Christoph, Sophie's answer, "just like our soul."
