Three different love stories, set in three consecutive decades, in two neighbouring Balkan villages burdened with a long history of inter-ethnic hatred: this is a film about the dangers - and the enduring strength - of forbidden love.

Love Island tells the story of a pregnant French woman who lives in Sarajevo with her Bosnian husband and their daughter. They go for a vacation at a Croatian island, where things get complicated when they all become attracted to a beautiful woman.

In the late 1980s, a boy has been found in the mountains of Bosnia and Herzegovina. Nobody knows how he came about in the wild, nor if animals fed and raised him.

In the autumn of 1991, a small group of Croatian soldiers go on patrol in an improvised armored vehicle. Soon after that they would get ambushed and their vehicle would get destroyed, in that situation they were forced to hide in a nearby house. Whilst stationed in that house they would get attacked by rebel Serbs, Serbian Special Forces and the JNA (Yugoslav People's Army, also reffered to as Yugoslavian National Army). Their resistance to the attackers would last 24 hours whilst their fellow combatants would attempt to try and get them out of there. The movie and story is based on true events which happened during the Croatian War of Independence.

Three stories offering three insights into the tragic outcome of relationships between men and women, which give rise to both longed-for and unwanted children.

Old writer Mihailo tells his dying wife a story about lovers and romances set in different seasons. In order to keep her alive, he talks about other people's romaces, but these are supposed to revive their own love story. The heroes of his stories are couples of different age who let go into frivolty of kisses and delicate game of seduction. Mihailo's wife does not like the stories at all because there is no true moral in it - they keep running around in circles. Mihailo decides to tell a new story that should please her. The heroes of the story are young Milos and Mila. Purified by previous experience the two of them move through idealized city scenes, freed from foul play and cheating-it looks like true love can still be found.

In the summer of 1991 the war broke out in Croatia. In a holiday house in Fruska Gora Hills in Serbia, near the border with Croatia, a group of young people are having a birthday party. They try to have some fun and act like nothing is going on. The party is shattered by the war. They can hear the artillery, but something is also happening between them. Inevitably, some of the boys end up on the frontline and everyone of them is effected by the war that is starting to rage. THE PARTY is about individual destinies of the characters trapped in isolated house in hills and surrounded by growing paranoia of the officially not yet declared war.

In this romantic tragedy, love drama, three stories are interwoven with characters that are trying to solve their emotional problems and unresolved relationships from the past during one night. Each of the characters survive his loneliness with others.

Sasa, a Belgrade University law student, tells her parents that she and her boyfriend Stefan are moving to Canada. That same night Sasa and Stefan suffer a car accident. Sasa wakes up in hospital and meets Stefan's charming and clever sister Lana, a photographer living in Paris. Stefan remains in hospital to recover. Sasa finds out that her mother Lila is having an affair. Her father, a well-known judge, desperately tries to keep the family together. Lana becomes Sasa's closest friend - a person able to prove that life is sometimes a mere game. In the midst of historical and family chaos, Sasa gets involved in a love relationship with her boyfriend's sister.

While her middle class, socialist family is falling apart around her, Berina, a young artist, tries to cope both with her awakening sexuality and her mother Jasna's imminent death. Her father cannot accept the fact that life is already happening without his wife. Her younger sister Luna cannot or does not want to grow up. Set in Belgrade over Easter weekend in 1997, the film involves a group of policemen who respond to the city's political turmoil. Due to the overthrow of Serbian leader Slobodan Milosevic, violence and protests have erupted all over the city. Patrolling the streets in a bus, the unit is led by commanding officer Dragon who isn't entirely sure what to do himself. Throughout their weekend-long shift, each man of this unit battles with his own personal problems as the political tension escalates.

A pair of emotionally scarred 19-year-olds seek refuge from a harsh adult world in each other's arms. He has a juvenile detention behind him, she has a rapacious sexual appetite. As an escape, the pair are having hungry sex everywhere.
