Worth the Academy Award it recieved. Loved seeing Ryoko Hirosue, hadn't seen her since I watched DoroDoro. People who are not familiar with Japanese culture, may not understand. I would suggest people that have a basic understanding of the culture to watch this film.

Slow at times but every moment is worth it to see this wonderful piece of history. If I ever have a daughter I will make sure this is one of the first films she ever sees.

Fight for what you believe in , be willing to die for your cause, and always take care of nature.

DirectorHayao MiyazakiStarsShûichirô MoriyamaTokiko KatôBunshi Katsura VI
The first Ghibli film that I saw that had a grittiness that wasn't found in Miyazaki's previous work. This one was special as Miyazaki was able to draw what he loves.
  • Tales from Earthsea (2006)

The worst Ghibli film made. The only redeeming element is the female lead.

Poor editing mixed in with an inexperienced director makes for a terrible choice for the people who run Ghibli.

Read the book after watching the film. Miyazaki did a great job at making the characters uniquely his while still respecting the source material enough to make the best adaption.

When I finished this movie I thought that this film was the perfect end to Miyazaki's career. The movie featured so many elements of his past films and appears to much deeper than the previous ones as this film was based on a real man. So beautiful, I can't wait to watch the film again.

    Just make something beautiful.

The first Beat film I have seen where he wasn't bashing heads in. Well worth it, the normally stoic Beat proved he is a talented actor and director.
