One of the best series period to come out of Britain (not just political comedies), Paul Eddington stars as an idealistic young minister whose dreams of cutting government waste are constantly dashed by the veteran civil servant (played by the amazing Nigel Hawthorne) he works with.

I won't also list the follow-up series Yes, Prime Minister even though it is also great, because it's very much just a continuation of this one. It's definitely worth checking out too though!
