To scare the squatters from the cattle country he claims as his own, Ed Sampson orders the Martin farm house burned.

While doing a good deed, the title hero has to shoot a man in self defense, and go into hiding. His peace is interrupted when a cattle baron rides into his territory, and decides to settle there. When no locals want to sell, Jared Tetlow turns to murdering the locals with his hired gun Dee Havalik, and starting a range war. Blackjack finds he has to kill the Tetlow gang off one by one, to restore peace in this movie sharing nothing in common with its real-name historical outlaw.

Unable to cope with a series of raids on stagecoaches hauling gold to the U. S. Mint, Sheriff Masters appeals to the U. S. Marshal's office for help. The Marshal assigns his best man, Johnny, to the job of discovering the hiding place of the stolen gold and bringing the outlaws to justice. Johnny enlists the aid of Bess Benson and her brother Bob. Bess insists on taking her pack dog, Daisy. The foursome then goes to the territory controlled by Sheriff Masters.

Bids submitted to win the U.S. Mail contract for their stagecoach lines are entered by Banton brothers Roy and Bart, and singing cowboy Bill Harkins. During a stagecoach race to determine who is awarded the contract, Roy, fueled by his greed as well as his desire for Bill's lady friend, resorts to sabotaging his rival's rig in order to win. Bill, having an idea who is behind a recent rash of stagecoach robberies, devises a plan to catch the highwaymen, although not before he is himself arrested for robbery and murder, having been seen committing the crime by impartial eye witnesses.

Leach Kilgrain has a plan to gain control of all the ranches in Pecos. His unscrupulous Mayor Ewell boosts taxes higher than the ranchers can pay, and Kilgrain plans to buy the land cheaply at foreclosure sales. Ellen Brandon rebels and shoots the tax collector Fuller when he visits her father, Jeb Brandon. While running from Kilgrain's henchie posse, she encounters Wild Bill Boone, grandson of the famous Daniel Boone, and forces him to change horses with her. Bill rides into Pecos and Kilgrain, knowing his reputation as a gunfighter, offers Bill the job of tax collector, and Bill accepts with the intention of getting evidence against kilgrain and the Mayor. He wires his friend Cannonball to bring a large amount of money to Pecos. Bill marks the money and gives it to the Mayor, saying it represents taxes he has collected. Meanwhile, Cannonball has his own problems as he is pursued by twins Melinda and Matilda and he thinks they are the same girl. Bill, gets the evidence he needs when Kilgrain and Ewell use the marked money to further their plans.

Wing Foot (Richard Dix), a Navajo, is educated in an otherwise all-white school. In the course of the story, he experiences prejudice from both the whites because of his race and the Navajos, who disown him because of his upbringing. Thus, Wing Foot is looked upon as neither Indian nor white, but simply a "redskin."

After fighting in the Civil War, Wild Bill Hickok and Whiney head west to investigate missing cattle herds. There they meet their war buddy Norris who is now in the cattle business. When he is unable to explain the missing herds, Bill goes into action.

When the telegraph line is sabotaged before completion, Tim Holt and his sidekick Chito investigate.

Ex-Pony Express rider Autry ties to protect his US mail franchise as the Pony Express gives way to stage coach mail and the telegraph.

A young woman teaches herself to become a sharpshooter so she can hunt down the three men who murdered her parents. She finds a sheriff who is willing to help her track them down.

When Matt Kilgore and his men frame and then hang an innocent man, Lige Saunders sends for his son Wild Bill who arrives to find his father shot by Matt's brother. When the brother is killed in his fight with Bill, Matt sends two fake Deputies to arrest Bill whom he then plans to hang. But Matt's sister, attracted to Bill, overhears the plan and rides for help.

Billy and Fuzzy help the owner of a treasure map that leads to stolen gold.

Jim Blake rescues criminal Hare Talton and Good Samaritan Estaban Solano from dehydration and death and tries to rehabilitate Harve by taking him in as partner in his gold strike.

A federal judge is sent to a town to preside in a murder trial. He discovers that the defendant, a poor Mexican, is accused of killing the brother of a powerful landowner, and the townspeople are in no mood for the niceties of a trial. The judge, who has come to believe the accused is innocent of the murder, has to find the real killer before the defendant is railroaded to the gallows.

John Malvin (Lon McCallister), prospecting the Montana territory during the gold rush, sees bandits kill a miner and his son. He eludes the outlaws by hiding near a stagecoach relay station run by "Possum" Enoch (Eddy Waller) and his daughter Clair (Wanda Hendrix), with whom John alls in love. Sheriff Henry Plummer (Preston Foster), secret head of the outlaws, learns John witnessed the killings and sends him as his Deputy on a dangerous mission with a planned ambush.

A young man travels to Mexico in search of his brother, who has become involved with a dangerous gang.

Red Ryder and Little Beaver ride into a sleepy Arizona town, and are seen by Blackie Blake. Red and his young Indian pal go to the office of Marshal McGaw and Blake sneaks up to a window and is about to shoot Red from ambush, but "Thunder," Red's horse, bears down on him with pounding hoofs. The hostile townspeople gather and are bent upon carrying out the law that says a killer horse must be shot. Red demands that "Thunder" be given a trial, and then (in flashback) tells the story of how he first found "Thunder." It was six months ago at the recruiting office for Teddy Roosevelt's Rough Riders, where the horse was pointed out as a potential killer that no one would ever be able to ride. Red accepted the challenge and was given the horse by Teddy Roosevelt after a wild ride. Red wants to join the Rough Riders, but Roosevelt tells him that horse thieves in Red's home state of Wyoming are disrupting the Army's supply service and that Red is the only man capable of stopping them. Red returns home to find the Duchess arguing with fellow-rancher Major Harding over a line-fence dispute, and concludes that someone is using them as dupes to cover some activity. In the town saloon, Blake, the Major's ranch foreman, and two henchmen, Dow and Luce are discussing how they let one of the Duchess' horses, with the Major's brand newly burned on it, wander back onto the Duchess' ranch to throw suspicion on the Major. Red beats Blake in a fight and calls a meeting to settle the dispute. Dow steals the Major's horses and Red finds "Thunder" missing and assumes he was also rustled. In reality, "Thunder" had followed the stolen herd to Box Canyon and was captured. Blake tries to ride "Thunder" but is thrown and then beats the horse unmercifully. "Thunder" gets away, Red finds him, sees the whip marks, and vows to find the owner of the saddle that "Thunder" is wearing. The trail leads to the Arizona town where Red is now telling the townspeople what prompted "Thunder" to attack Blake.

A dispute between stage lines goes back and forth until one comes up with what it hopes will end it all .

Two brothers are separated when young. One becomes the pony express rider Clint Knox and the other the outlaw Ace Carter. Their next meeting finds Ace way-laying Clint as he delivers the mail.

Bud Bryson is framed for cattle rustling and branded. Walker's brand was used and he heads for the Walker ranch to get revenge. He gets a job there and slowly realizes that Walker was not responsible. But when the man that framed him shows up he goes into action.

Jennings is after the Ryder freight lines. His gang robs their stage and then rustles the horses Red Ryder is delivering to the Army, When the Army Captain arrives he arrests Ryder for rustling his own horses.

A con man posing as a lawyer tries to sell copies of a phony law book. Things get serious when he has to defend a young man falsely accused of robbery.
