Unnecessary sequels, reboots and remakes

by big_bea • Created 11 years ago • Modified 6 years ago
This list will feature the most unnecessary sequels etc. that are being developed right now. Sometimes it seems to me that creativity is dead, and those films are to blame for that. The future instalments in the Star Wars saga won't be on here, since I am, for some reason, cautiously optimistic about them -- but let's see where I stand on that after the release of Episode VII.

  • Mark Wahlberg and Seth MacFarlane in Ted 2 (2015)

    6.3 (250K)
Newlywed couple Ted and Tami-Lynn want to have a baby, but in order to qualify to be a parent, Ted will have to prove he's a person in a court of law.

I'll give this one a shot. I really liked Ted when I saw it the first time, but after the second time I'm no longer so sure about it. Comedy sequels are often bad, and I really don't know what this one is going to be about. Storywise, I don't expect much, but hopefully some of the jokes will be good.
  • Zoe Saldaña, Sam Worthington, Bailey Bass, and Britain Dalton in Avatar: The Way of Water (2022)

    DirectorJames CameronStarsSam WorthingtonZoe SaldañaSigourney Weaver
Sure, Avatar was a huge success and one example of 3D used to it's best effect. But what more is there to tell? I like the first film, but I think they should have left it at that. 3 and especially 4 fall under the same category for me.
  • 3. Hansel & Gretel: Witch Hunters 2

After killing the dark evil witch, the brother and sister Hansel and Gretel think that they are safe. But what they don't know is, there is another dark force striking them soon.
    DirectorBruno Aveillan
The original was trashy fun. Such films really don't need sequels.

I liked the first two, but again a lot of time has passed and that will make it harder to recapture what was good about these films.
  • 6. Bad Teacher 2
