A free-wheeling comedy, Zur Sache Schaetzchen chronicles a day in the life of Martin, a witty yet lazy songwriter who'd rather not get out of bed. During the opening sequence, Martin watches a break-in on the other side of the street. In the morning, his friend Henry forces him to report it to the police, yet Martin gets bored with the cops and flees. The two of them spent the rest of the day escaping the law, in the Munich zoo and a public bath, were Martin meets Barbara. Block, the record company executive, needs Martin's new song lyrics right away, and Martin, who continually cranks out mad random remarks, comes up with a ridiculous sailor song. In the end, Martin's playful- ness collides with the authority the police represents. The movie is certainly not plot based; it draws its superior humor from one-liners and the hilarious, carefree insanity of its protagonist.

Das tolpatschige Gaunerpärchen Big Ben und Cindy versucht, Kristian die Steine abzujagen. Auf seiner Flucht quartiert er sich inkognito in dem Städtchen Waldsee ein - unter dem Namen Dr. Gustav Kellermann, den er bei einer Autopanne kennenlernte. Kristian ahnt nicht, daß er nun für den neuen Schuldirektor gehalten wird. Der amtsmüde bisherige Direktor Lauritz Bercelius hat heimlich eine Schülerbande namens "Schwarze Hand" aufgebaut, deren kecke Streiche seinen Wunsch nach baldiger Pensionierung unterstreichen sollen. Kristian wird aber durch einen Zufall zunächst verschont, weil die Lausbuben sein Hotelzimmer verwechseln. Dafür trifft es Walter, den pedantischen Verlobten von Bercelius' Nichte Felicitas. Auch Kristian ist von ihrem Charme fasziniert. Als ihn jedoch die "Schwarze Hand" zu einem fingierten Treffen mit Felicitas lockt, gerät das Rendezvous unversehens zum handgreiflichen Mißverständnis. Kristian glaubt jetzt, daß Felicitas nur die Gesteinsproben stehlen wollte. Mittlerweile sind auch Big Ben und Cindy in Waldsee eingetroffen. Es entwickelt sich eine turbulente Verfolgungsjagd, die mitten in die Feierlichkeit um Dr. Kellermanns Amtsantritt führt. Dieser steuert indes geradewegs auf einen explosiven Höhepunkt zu.
