Characters can now carry items rather than automatically using them when found. The new "Image Flare System" allows the player to extract skills from images obtained by the various playable characters, further customizing them.

Needless to say the cash the payer starts with is sufficient for the lower cars in each group, players need to win cash if they are to upgrade.
