You race against 5 other cars around a race course. All the courses take place in the same location blocking off and opening up different sections for each race route. You start in class 1 and by finishing all races in the class in third place or better, you go up to class 2 etc. The aim is to complete all classes. There are 5 classes to get through giving you access to special classes which are the same as the first 5 classes except that you race the opposite way round each course, and there is a class 6 in special, completing this completes the game. As the player wins races they earn currency which can be used to purchase new cars and upgrades which become available. These are essential to being able to compete in later classes and start from scratch when special class 1 is started. One notable feature of the game is its customising, in which you can choose your race team name, design your team logo and choose the 2 colours painted on each of your cars.

In 2401, humanity is at war with relentless aliens, TimeSplitters. Space marines Cortez and Hart travel through time to stop the aliens in various spots, including Wild West, zombie-infested Gothic church and Blade Runner-esque future.
