    StarsRikiya KoyamaKôhei KiyasuSteve Staley
(NEW SEASON OUT NOW!) Great fun, has some really hilarious moments in this show. The characters are a good laugh, they have heart. However whilst being comical, there is a serious side and the fighting is great. HEARRRRRT BREAK SHOT-OOOOOOO (You'll understand once you've watched the anime...)

Notes: There are 5 parts to this all together. Firstly watch:

    1) Hajime No Ippo - Fighting Spirit (76 episodes)

"If someone is born a male, at least once in his life, he'll dream of becoming the strongest man alive."

Highly underrated Martial Arts anime. Has immense fighting scenes, this really is pure fighting and has the most I've seen in any anime, and they only get better.

    Notes: 48 episodes
  • Nobutoshi Canna, Yûko Miyamura, Toshiyuki Morikawa, and Kenji Utsumi in Berserk (1997)

    CreatorKentaro MiuraStarsMarc DiraisonNobutoshi CannaCarrie Keranen
Set in medieval times following the journey of a band of mercenaries who are lead by an unusual but gifted leader. It has a real human element to it which makes you feel for the characters, I want to say more but I fear I may spoil it, well, one more detail, it is rather dark.

    StarsDavid VincentMatthew MercerDaisuke Ono
Colourful, fun, some great action and characters with plenty of charm and wit. And the intro song...damn! It's called a 'bizarre' adventure for a reason but you won't be disappointed 8)~ aka "JoJo's Bizarre adventure"

    Notes: 26 episodes.
Second season "Stardust crusaders" out now 8)
  • Ninja Scroll (1993)

    7.8 (43K)

    DirectorYoshiaki KawajiriStarsKôichi YamaderaEmi ShinoharaTakeshi Aono
This is a very graphic anime but for its age it still looks brilliant today. Mysterious, intriguing and a thrill to watch. I love animes where each character has unique abilities and you wonder how they are going to deal with each other. In this movie, you won't know what to expect! Awesome fighting, good story, good characters.
  • Hellsing Ultimate (2006)

    6. Hellsing Ultimate

    8.2 (29K)
The vampire Alucard, his master Sir Integra Fairbrook Wingates Hellsing, and his newly sired ward Seras Victoria, try to protect England from a war-crazed SS-Major who seeks to start an eternal war with his vampire army.
    CreatorKohta HiranoStarsKatie GrayCrispin FreemanVictoria Harwood
Madness! Crisp and stylish animation, very entertaining violence with some rather funny dialogue. The characters are also all insane, but have insane abilities, which helps.

    Notes: 10 OVA Episodes
There are older episodes, but the OVA is just a better looking remake so I'd just watch the newer episodes.
  • Highlander: The Search for Vengeance (2007)

    7. Highlander: The Search for Vengeance

    6.7 (4.2K)
Highlander Colin MacLeod must choose between confronting the immortal who killed his lover centuries ago, or saving the survivors of a ravaged New York City.
DirectorsYoshiaki KawajiriTakuji EndoHiroshi HamasakiStarsAlistair AbellDebi Mae WestNolan North
    "There can only be ONE"

The Highlander films could of been so much better, this anime does justice to the story of Highlander, this is how it should have been done! In 90% of animes the English voice acting is so terrible it's like watching a different anime, but here it's great. Just like the story, just like the fighting. This is vengeance!
  • David Matranga and Yûki Kaji in Attack on Titan (2013)

After his hometown is destroyed, young Eren Jaeger vows to cleanse the earth of the giant humanoid Titans that have brought humanity to the brink of extinction.
    StarsJessie James GrelleBryce PapenbrookTrina Nishimura
Aka "Attack on Titan." This is a very entertaining anime with plenty of action and crisp animation, the characters hold your attention, but it's a harsh story, full of struggle, hopefully you'll enjoy it :)

Notes: 25 episodes so far (as of Oct 29 2013) roughly 22 mins each.
  • Kingdom (2012)

    9. Kingdom

    8.7 (4.9K)
In ancient China, a young boy dreams of becoming the greatest general of the Qin Kingdom.
    StarsMasakazu MoritaJun FukuyamaRie Kugimiya
Great anime set in China and it's all about war, tactics, deception and all the other wonderful things war brings. The art style is a little different but they revert to the normal anime style in season 2 and it definitely gets better as it goes on, trust me!

    Season 1: 38 episodes
    Season 2: 40 episodes

    Notes: 24 Episodes
  • Shigurui: Death Frenzy (2007)

    11. Shigurui: Death Frenzy

    200712 epsTV-MATV Series
    7.7 (2.9K)
The series starts off at a tournament where a one armed samurai faces a blind one and quickly flashes back to reveal the history between the two fighters.
    StarsDaisuke NamikawaEmi ShinoharaSeizô Katô
This is a very graphic anime and not just the fighting o.0 You may find this a bit distasteful (if you thought Ninja scroll had a messed up scene...), however the sword fighting scenes are brilliant, and the characters even though extremely twisted, are interesting. It's a tense anime. But it does lack action, however I feel the story makes up for it.

    Notes: 12 Episodes
  • 12. Asahi Opinion TV: Souron, kouron

    2011– TV Series

I couldn't find this anime on IMDB so I just chose the next closest thing. This anime is called 'Souten Kouro' aka 'Sōten Kōro.'
"Sōten Kōro’s story is based loosely on the events taking place in Three Kingdoms period of China during the life of the last Chancellor of the Eastern Han Dynasty, Cao Cao (155 – March 15, 220), who also serves as the main character." Taken from wikipedia page.

DirectorYukio NishimotoStarsJames Carter CathcartMarc DiraisonMasakatsu Funaki
Whilst it's a short anime (3 episodes 40+~min) I found it to be an entertaining watch and whilst it has brutal fighting scenes it has nice elements to it.
  • Gantz (2004)

After their deaths, two teens are transported to an apartment with an ominous black sphere and must participate in a gory alien-hunting "game."
    CreatorHiroya OkuStarsHiroshi KamiyaJohn SwaseyDaisuke Namikawa
An odd show, deplorable and likeable characters, weird circumstances, bit slow paced but some good action scenes, get a good feel in the first episode, but a good watch overall.
