Wertheimer, a New York radio talent scout, shows up at Uncle Jed's barn dance having received numerous letters from Nancy Shackelford, the adopted daughter of Uncle Jed Shackelford, telling him about the musical talents of Bob and the other four farm-hand musicians. He hires the boys for a new radio program to be known as "The Old Homestead" broadcast from New York. Nancy and Uncle Jed accompany them, the latter as their manager. The show is a hit and Nancy is thrilled, especially when she meets famous crooner Rudy Nash. Elsie Wilson, Rudy's partner, resents the attention Rudy shows Nancy, and Bob takes an immediate dislike to Rudy. The band goes to a night club and get high on champagne which they think is cider. Peggy joins the boys in their clowning after the regular entertainers quit in indignation. Nancy and Rudy enter the café, and when the proprietor realizes that Nancy and (primarily) Rudy knows the boys, he offers them $1,250 a week to perform at the club. The jealous Elsie decides to make a play for Bob at the hotel where she too is staying. Slightly inebriated, she invites Bob up her suite. Nancy and Bob have a bitter quarrel when she returns and sees the imprint of Elsie's lips on Bob's cheek. The next morning, press agent Pratt and Wertheimer show up with two suitcases of fan mail for the "Farm Boys" and Bob's head begins to swell, as he thinks he is the attraction of the group and really believes he is "the golden voice of the air." Bob gets a show of his own, and Uncle Jed meets Peggy and is attracted to her. Three weeks later, Nancy and Bob are no longer speaking, Uncle Jed is spending money on Peggy, and Rudy is overwhelming Nancy with his attentions. Twice Bob has been late for a broadcast and Wertheimer tells him if he is late again, the sponsors will cancel him. Uncle Jed, who has no intentions of proposing, buys a diamond ring for Peggy and unthinkingly slips it on her engagement finger. She allows as how she'll be right proud to be Mrs. Jed Shackelford. Peggy is actually happy at the chance of marrying Jed and quitting New York for Uncle Jed's farm, but Nancy doesn't believe her. Bob gets a visit from Elsie's husband who threatens an alienation suit. Nancy tells him that she and Bob are engaged and that Elise is her best friend. he husband departs, and Nancy tells Bob of Rudy's proposal to her. He wishes her good luck and leaves for the farm without telling anyone.

Munro and his gang control the valley and are driving away all nesters. Johnny arrives, and taking an interest in Barbara McGrail, decides to help the nesters. He receives unexpected help from Barbara's uncle who is posing as Salty Smith, one of Munro's hired guns. Salty thinks Munro killed his brother and is out to get proof.

Hillbilly Jenny loves the son of his mother's creditor although his father wants him to marry the daughter of a moneyed man.

As the sheriff of a small Western town, Autry sings his way into a relationship with Eleanor, a singer from a Chicago nightclub who earlier witnessed a murder.

Cowboy Jeff Larabee returns from the east and meets Doris Halloway, a young girl, that he regards as a vagabond, till he learns that she's the owner of the ranch where he works. He tries to win her heart, but without success, until she is endangered by gangsters.

At the Texas Centennial in Dallas Autry confuses two girls by being himself and his own stunt double.

Frank Sr. sells his supplies to Hook, but then Hook has the Bannion Boys bushwhack his wagon to get the money back. Frank is murdered, but Junior gets away. He comes back 10 years later to settle the score as the Singing Cowboy. He finds that Hook is still doing his dirty deeds on the unsuspecting people. Along the way, Frank meets the lovely Jen, who came out in the same wagon train 10 years before.

Bids submitted to win the U.S. Mail contract for their stagecoach lines are entered by Banton brothers Roy and Bart, and singing cowboy Bill Harkins. During a stagecoach race to determine who is awarded the contract, Roy, fueled by his greed as well as his desire for Bill's lady friend, resorts to sabotaging his rival's rig in order to win. Bill, having an idea who is behind a recent rash of stagecoach robberies, devises a plan to catch the highwaymen, although not before he is himself arrested for robbery and murder, having been seen committing the crime by impartial eye witnesses.

Two ranchers quarrel, suspecting each other of castle rustling. The son of one proves that it is the work of a gang and rounds them up.

A champion rodeo rider returns home to track down a legendary wild horse called "Cyclone."

When Bob Patterson arrives to buy cattle he gets caught up in Kenney's plan to take over Halliday's ranch. Kenney's gang led by Slade are keeping all cattle buyers away so Halliday will be unable to pay off his note. When Slade robs Halliday, Bob has a plan that will use the stolen bills to trap Kenney.

Rogers plays a lookalike to the dead Billy The Kid and restores the tranquility of Lincoln County after subduing the criminal element.

Roy is elected to Congress to bring the misery of the "dustbowl" of the 1930s to the attention of Washington politicians.

Autry and his buddies have a horse selling business which is threatened by a tractor company which claims horses are out of date.

Disbanded Texas Rangers are gathered together to help the U.S. Cavalry put an end to marauding outlaws.

The one-time partnership between two men has turned into a full-fledged range war. Roy is the son of one of the former partners, the heroine is daughter to the other. The film featured and debuted the then-popular radio duo Lulubelle and Scotty.

A bank robbery pulled off by the bank officials, not the usual James gang.

As Yankee and Rebel forces contend for the allegiance of California, Pony Express rider Roy and his sidekick must round up a pack of villains before Roy can turn his attentions to the girl.

Now that the Spanish-American war is over, Roy and other Rough Riders become border patrolmen. Their goal is to stop outlaws who are stealing gold from stagecoaches and express offices.

In the opening scene Roy as a boy philosophizes about marriage to his girl friend then sees his dad gunned down by bad guys who want to drive out the ranchers by cutting off their water.

Americans come West to California in the hope of peaceful settlement.

Roy is a Confederate officer stationed in Missouri during the Civil War. He must put an end to outlaw gangs working under the pretense of service to the Confederacy.

A greedy land baron tries to cheat a family out of its land because he secretly knows there's oil under it.

In post-Civil War Texas a former Union officer is the government's chief law enforcement official and tax collector. Roy discovers that the man is also the head of an outlaw gang.

Roy Rogers and his pals go to New York City to prevent a Wall Street conglomerate from taking their land. The land is rich in a mineral used for making steel and some greedy power brokers will stop at nothing to get it.
