A short comedy sketch by three German students of the directing department of FAMU (Prague) tells the story of the escaped patients of a psychiatric clinic.

The story of two women, one French and the other German, who fight for a child who has been mistakenly taken by the Germans after a bomb raid.

The Spanish Civil War in the year 1936. Five brigadiers are singled out to stay behind in the Spanish Sierras and fend off the fascist enemy while the rest of the troops recede. They are supposed to rendezvous with a radio operator, but when they get to the meeting point there is nobody there. In search for the missing man, Kommissar Wittig is shot. Before his death he hands over a piece of paper with an important message which the remaining men have to transport across enemy lines. The paper is torn into five pieces and each piece is hidden in a cartridge. An odyssey across the mountain desert begins - with constant fear of enemy fire and dehydration.

Set in the historical context of anti-Nazi resistance, this love story explores the moral issues of the period. Beyer's second antifascist film, it stands out stylistically due to the clear references to the work of Tarkovsky.

After the second World War, Dresden has a lot of reconstructing to do. To get the cigarette factory he once worked for running again, Kalle has to travel to Wittenberg - the only place where carbide can be found. Once there, Kalle finds himself in the unfortunate situation of having to hitchhike his way back to Dresden, transporting seven heavy barrels of carbide. However, his inventiveness and optimistic attitude help transform the grueling task into an adventurous, entertaining, and funny journey.

6 May 1945: The four deserters Schilling, Gail, Wehrmann and Schwalenberg are picked up by Danish resistance fighters and handed over to their unit. Meanwhile, the signing of the partial surrender with the Americans also takes place. The British leave the German commanders in charge of maintaining order in the troops and in the POW camps. After the flag has been taken down and the unconditional total surrender has taken place, the four deserters are sentenced like their fellow sufferers from M612, three of them are shot, practically as the last official act of the high officers, who immediately afterwards offer their experience to the Western Allies. At the same time in Kurland, in the general chaos, Captain Lieutenant Klose organizes the escape of SS units.

A Jewish ghetto in central Europe, 1944. By coincidence, Jakob Heym eavesdrops on a German radio broadcast announcing the Soviet Army is making slow by steady progress towards central Europe. In order to keep his companion in misfortune, Mischa, from risking his life for a few potatoes, he tells him what he heard and announces that he is in possession of a radio - in the ghetto a crime punishable by death. It doesn't take long for word of Jakob's secret to spread - suddenly, there is new hope and something to live for - and so Jakob finds himself in the uncomforting position of having to come up with more and more stories.

One year has passed since Max and Wanda got their divorce. Max has come to the realization that he wants his ex-wife back - no matter what the cost! So he concocts a sneaky plan: he asks Wanda to hide him from the police, who are apparently looking for him. At first, Wanda rejects all his attempts to restart their relationship. But she is soon unable to resist Max's convincing promises and even throws her lover out of the house. But then she discovers Max's lie... Frank Beyer and Jurek Becker were inspired by Ingmar Bergmann's Scenes from a Marriage and created a comedy - their own version of that film from a socialist filmmaker's point of view. While working on the film, the singer-songwriter Wolf Biermann was officially expelled from East Germany. Frank Beyer, Jurek Becker, Manfred Krug, Jutta Hoffmann and others signed a letter of protest, which resulted in the cancellation of the film's premiere. This later fueled Hoffmann and Krug's decision to leave the GDR for West Germany. The film was finally released with only five circulating prints in November 1978. Nevertheless, Krug's fans flooded into the screenings in Berlin. Officials saw this success as a boost for Krug, who had already started a new career in West Germany, and unoffically removed the film from distribution.

Three married couples who are friends want to spend their holidays together. One of them has a traffic accident, the other is prevented by work. So designer Robert and youth support worker Ellen are forced to spend a few days alone in the remote farmhouse with their young son.

Flattery, lies and threats finally drive Frank to despair and Karin to treason. But it is not due to their parents' hatred, nor to any greed for inherited wealth. Rather, the mere conjecture expressed by the authorities is enough to set off a merciless mechanism...
