The movie depicts how families of leaders are affected by political rivalry and how the best and worst human qualities reveal themselves when emotions run high. 'Rajneeti' also does the important job of chronicling traditional 'Dhakaia' culture, which the movie has used as its backdrop.

A family must come to grips with its culture, its faith, and the brutal political changes entering its small-town world.

The main setting of the movie was a disastrous cyclone and tidal bore which attacked Bangladesh in 1970. That vast spate washed away an opulent girl and a destitute man to a secluded island where no sign of other human was found. Dumping the class-distinction, they fell in love and founded that isolated island as their paradise. Even after their rescue, brutal social prejudices could not separate them and thus they forded across that primitive fringe with the message of love and equal-ism.

The story of the film centers around the youth Ruhul, who lives with his family in a small hut next to the runway of the international airport. His mother Rahima struggles to support the family by selling milk from a cow bought with a micro credit loan. His sister Fatima works long hours in a garments factory. There's been no word from their father for over a month, since he left for a job in the Middle East. A Madras dropout, Ruhul spends his days wandering under the shadow of the planes, aimless and frustrated in his futile efforts to find work. One day at a cyber-cafe; he meets Arif, a computer savvy young man who exudes confidence and a sense of purpose. The world Arif introduces him to seems inspiring and new, but eventually Ruhul's life spirals into a nefarious netherworld of intolerance, violence and ultimately, death...

Holding the government officials at gunpoint, he asks them to call up influential individuals of the region, including the SP (Masud Ali Khan) and ASP (Hasan Masood), leader of a youth organisation (Marzuk Russell), a leading cultural activist (Fazlur Rahman Babu), political leaders belonging to rival parties (Jayanto Chattopadhyay and Saleh Ahmed) and educationists (Amirul Haque Chowdhury and Tania Ahmed). After they all arrive, thinking they have been called upon to attend an urgent meeting with the DC, Khorshed makes his intentions clear. He reads out an eight-point demand and wants the parliament to pass new legislation to put an end to corruption.

Common people struggle during independence war of Bangladesh.

Can he see the light of morning again ?
