  • Bruce Lee and Brandon Lee in Legacy of Rage (1986)

    3. Legacy of Rage

Brandon Ma is an average Joe but his best friend, Michael, is a sinister drug dealer with a crush on Brandon's girlfriend, May. When Michael murders a dirty cop and frames his friend, sending him to jail, Brandon returns for vengeance.
    DirectorRonny YuStarsBrandon LeeMichael WongRegina Kent
Brandon Lee follows in the footsteps of his Legendary Father.

And Like his Father, Brandon is a complete BADASS, especially in this, Brandon only completed 4 films in his short career, and his two best IMO are his two Revenge flicks, Hong Kong's Legacy of Rage & Hollywoods The Crow. Brandon is great in both films and i really felt he could have been huge, especially after the Crow.He has so much potential.

This film, like the Crow is essentially a straight up Revenge flick, but unlike in The Crow, Brandon showcases his martial arts abilities here, where in the Crow he is more of a supernatural angel with a vengeance. I could say this is his most violent and bloody movie out of the four of his completed films. Especially when you get to the ending, the rage in his eyes is not that different from the rage his father showed us in Fist of Fury. This is Brandon Lee. Hong Kong Style!
  • Karate Warriors (1976)

There is practically no story in this film, its just one scene setting up for an all out Karate kick assness to another. Sonny Chiba is the *beep* man! Highly entertaining stuff.

The movie overall is average, however it features a handful of great martial arts action movie heavy hitters. Enough to land a spot on this list anyway.
  • Jason Scott Lee in Dragon: The Bruce Lee Story (1993)

    6. Dragon: The Bruce Lee Story

    19932hPG-1369Metascore
    7.0 (34K)
A fictionalized account of the life of the martial arts superstar.
DirectorRob CohenStarsJason Scott LeeLauren HollyRobert Wagner
a semi-FICTIONAL re-telling on the life of Bruce Lee. Its very LOOSELY based on his Life so dont take it seriously so much. If you want facts, watch one of the MANY documentaries dedicated to Him.

This film took ALOT of liberties and spread alot of that "Hollywood "Magic" aka *beep* to his life story.

Dont know why really, Bruce's Life was entertaining enough, infact the Facts are faaaaar more interesting than the bullcrap they shoved in here.

The Score however was brilliant, the theme song has been used a dozen times for numerous film trailers including Forrrest Gump.

Jason Scott Lee was alright i guess, but he was no Bruce Lee, Ive seen two biopics on Bruce's Life so far and neither actors portraying the man captured his aura, charisma, and skills. Not surprising though since there is no one else like Bruce.

Its great entertainment, but for the REAL story check out the many Documentaries on the Man. - "A Warriors Journey", "Bruce Lee:The Legend" - "Famous Families: The Lee's", - "Curse of the Dragon" - "Immortal Dragon" - "Death By Misadventure" - & "How Bruce Lee Changed the World."

A Chinese man travels to the Wild West to rescue a kidnapped Princess. After teaming up with a train robber, the unlikely duo takes on a Chinese traitor and his corrupt boss.
    DirectorTom DeyStarsJackie ChanOwen WilsonLucy Liu
If Bruce Lived, i would have LOVED to see his more serious version of this "East meets West" concept, partnered up with Clint *beep* Eastwood in a spaghetti western styled, martial arts action filled extravaganza!

Also check out the sequel "Shanghai Knights", Only because that film includes a Jackie Chan Vs Donnie Yen fight scene. It might be short, but watching two legends go at it while dodging bullets at the same time truly is a must see for fans of Martial Arts Cinema.

    TRIVIA:
-Sammo Hung & Jackie Chan had a falling out for a short time period because of this film. It started with Jackie telling Sammo of his idea of an "Eastern, Western." Sammo then went on and "stole/used" the idea when he he took over directer duty on the already famous Wong Fei Hung Series starring Jet Li. Once Upon A Time in China And America was released in 97 and the themes, storyline, and idea are directly lifted off Jackie's Shanghai Noon, from the blonde cowboy side kick, to the Native Americans, too even having the same actor playing the same Chinese villain in both films Needless to say Jackie felt betrayed and ripped off, they have since made up when Sammo Apologized.

i will admit to being super pumped when i heard there was going to be a squeal to one of the greatest if not the greatest Wuxia film of them all, but after watching this straight to netflix original, i was a tad bit disappointed.

Make no mistake, Im not saying its a bad film by any means, it just doesnt live up to its predecessor.

  • The Grandmaster (2013)

    13. The Grandmaster

    20132h 10mPG-1373Metascore

The story of martial-arts master Ip Man, the man who trained Bruce Lee.
DirectorWong Kar-WaiStarsTony Leung Chiu-waiZiyi ZhangJin Zhang
I was actually really disappointed with this film. Judging from the films descriptions and trailers youd expect it to be a film about Ip Man, but it is not, at least not entirely. The fight scenes were well done, and the visuals of course, but all in all it was a muddled and choppy mess of a film that failed to keep me engaged all throughout.

I might have to do a rewatch sometime to maybe change my mind about it. I originally went into this expecting another Ip Man so it could be my fault for setting myself up for disappointment.

    Aka "Enter the Fat Dragon."

Take note this is NOT a parody of Bruce Lee's "Enter the Dragon" its about a heavy set man who just so happens to be obsessed with Bruce and his films, and can imitate his moves quite well for a fat dude. Its hilarious and as usual Sammo delivers top notch action scenes.

(Korean with English subtitles) Ha-eun is a housewife physically abused by her mixed martial artist husband regularly. When her husband hit their daughter one day, Ha-eun is driven to her absolute breaking point. To put an end to his constant harassment, she starts training as a boxer, and publicly challenges her abusive husband to an organized fight in front of the whole nation!
    DirectorKang Hyo-jinStarsDo Ji-WonKim Byeong-cheolSulli Choi
Do ji-won stars in this tense and sometimes amusing South Korean drama as a battered housewife whose husband’s regular beatings drive her to the absolute breaking point. In defiance, she tears away from him and trains as a Muay Thai Kick Boxer, then publicly challenges him to an organized fight before an audience of spectators.

I gotta be honest, there were certain scenes in this film that i found particularly hard to view, the domestic violence to be more specific. I HATE seeing a woman beaten and battered by their supposed 'significant other.' It makes me sick to my stomach to know vile people like that actually exist in our world. I just cant stomach it. However the film pays of in the end as the main protagonist overcomes her fears and finally steps up.

This is a true underdog story if there ever is one, people usually give the nod to Rocky for that, me? i salute the South Koreans for having the balls to tackle such a serious subject matter like this and turn it into something funny, sad, disturbing, inspiring, and entertaining all at the same time.

a movie filled to the bursting point with weird Kung Fu styles- Brass Head head buts people to death, Iron Fan uses a deadly bladed fan, A drunken kung-fu secret agent, and Golden Arms has invulnerable arms.
