To me, this movie (among other things) is about hope and hard work. And it shows you the reality of working your a*s off, and still not being able to change your fate. Also with a nice depiction of class struggle, and the dream of defying your social heritage. This movie gets it rating on account of its underlying themes, and its thought and tear provoking ending.

In my mind the 3 LOTR movies come together as one. Thats also why i have given them the same rating. In my humble opinion (and in most other movie enjoyers aswell) this is the best film trilogy of all time, and is in it self undeniable!

This masterpiece of a romance movie takes you on a journey. This movie succedes at being world class in two genres, that being romance and drama. With powerful themes of class and privilege. This movie is perfectly balanced, and engaging all the way through, the pacing is simply immaculate. Its a testament to what good directing paired with an interesting story can achieve. Most definitely my favorite romance movie, and also up there on my list of dramas.
  • Christian Bale, Hugh Jackman, and Scarlett Johansson in The Prestige (2006)

    7. The Prestige

    8.5 (1.5M)
Rival 19th-century magicians engage in a bitter battle for trade secrets.
    DirectorChristopher NolanStarsChristian BaleHugh JackmanScarlett Johansson
I love a movie about magic and misdirection. Christian Bale, Hugh Jackman and Scarlett Johansson simply nailed these roles. Magic movies and the thriller genre work very well together, and this movie is the blueprint for such a movie. A lot of twists and turns in the story, but easy to follow, and even easier to enjoy, great movie!

Unexpected entry.. a lot of things about this movie impressed me. First of all my expectations were low, as i usually dont consume any korean music or film. I only know some of the k-dramas, and they are a bit too over the top for me. I simply loved every single song in this movie, and it totally blew my expectations away. Also, i liked the characters, and i felt that for such a short movie, the characters were made well enough for me to care about them. The only reason this movie wasnt perfect, is because it was a bit predictable, and not that groundbreaking when it comes to the plot.
