Disappointed for the potential the story would have had

I had really high expectations with the interesting background of Natasha Romanoff and her training in the red room and how she escaped and became an Avenger. And the beginning was really good, especially the opening credits with "smells like teen spirit" was one of the best things Marvel has ever made. In the dark Cinema and the loud music, everyone had goosebumps and it was an fantastic atmosphere. But sadly after that the movie took a turn to a "classic, normal, unsepectecular" action movie and didn't used the potential the story would have had. So overall it is a solid action movie, nothing special and nothing bad, but in my opinion one of the worse MCU movies.

    Love it

I was born and raised in Bavaria between Munich and Landshut. Normally I really don't like german movies they are mostly the same story again and again. But every Eberhofer movie makes me laugh, happy and just makes me feel "home". And "Kaiserschmarrndrama" doesnt loses its charme and is as good as you expect when you have seen and loved the other Eberhofer movies. So go to theatres and enjoy our bavarian life :)

Fresh new addition to the MCU

I went into this movie with my friends a couple of weeks ago. And my first impression was actually really good and a lot better than I thought.

Nice fight-sequences, nice looking sets and costumes, especially in "Ta-Lo" and the plot was fine too. Despite the huge amount of CGI at the end that was a bit too much for me, "Shang-Chi" ist something different and refreshing in the MCU and in all this comic/superhero movies.

One of the better MCU movies for sure.

Best cinema experience of the year

What does a good cinema experience need? Impressive pictures on a big cinema screen, a breathtaking score, a well structured plot, an incredible cast and brilliant set design and costumes to dive into another world? Dune has all of these and is one of the best movies you can watch in cinemas.

I was born in 2001 and I'm very sad that I didn't had the chance to watch Peter Jacksons "The Lord of the Rings" the very first time in theatres. I always wanted to experience such an breathtaking Epos by myself on the big screen. And I think I finally found my memorable cinema experience now with Denis Villeneuves "Dune"

I have to admit that I never read the books of Frank Herbert, only watched the (not very good) David Lynch movie of 1984 but always have known about the impact of the novels to the science fiction genre. So it deserved a movie that can introduce the world of Frank Herbert to more people. And Denis Villeneuve definitly introduced me, and hopefully many others, into this world and made me want to dive into it and learn everything about it.

PS: The first book is already on the way ;)

    Very touching drama

I went with my mother into the theatre to watch this movie (started in sommer/fall 2021 in Germany). My grandmother (her mother) died of Alzheimer a couple of years ago. So we already knew that, if the movie is well made, it will be a very touching topic for us.

And we were thrilled about how well done this movie was and with how much sensibility they discussed this critical topic. Especially the load and stress for the family members, how quick the mood of people with Alzheimer can change and their panic and fear when they realize that their memories fade were so realistic (and incredible performed by Anthony Hopkins).

We are really happy that other people can see how an Alzheimer disease really works and about the sensibility they discussed this, for us critical, topic. Most touching drama I have seen in a while.

    Typical german comedy

The same plot, the same actors, the same jokes you already have seen a hundret of times. Nearly every movie in germany is like this. Not good but also not totally bad. Normally I would give 4 stars but I had a good family time in the theatre so I give 1 extra star for the nice sunday afternoon.

    Better than expected

I think you have to like the other Bond movies with Daniel Craig to like this one. Daniel Craigs Bond is very different to the other Bonds and his movies too. If you like the plot over serveral movies (no stand alone movies as with the other Bond actors) and if you like Daniel Craigs Bond interpretation, you will have a lot of fun. The plot is closing, Daniel Craig is great for his "last dance", the action and the setting perfect. But it's a bit to long and the goals of the villain are not always 100% clear. But even with that the movie is good and a lot of fun.

Fun to watch but disappointing at the same time

    Warning: Spoilers
After the first Venom movie and after I saw the PG-13 rating (12 in Germany) I knew that we will not get the Venom movie we (or I) want to have. And even with going into theatres with these expectation I was disappointed at first.

In the whole first half of this really short movie nothing really happens, we just get funny scenens with Venom and Eddie. Also, Celtus Kasady, the antagonist is just introduced like: Look, he is a serialkiller and look, there is Carnage now. Very disappointed at this point even though I had not the highest expectations going into it.

But the second half of the movie where all the action happens was pretty dope I have to say, Carnage looked awesome and the CGI Fights were really good and really fun to watch.

If I rate this movie after the Venom movie I want to see (R-rated, blood, horror and a few funny scenes with Eddie and Venom), I probably would give only 3 or 4 stars. But I don't rate it like that because I know that it is a funny, loud, PG-13 rated popcorn movie and it is only fair to rate it after this. So my rating is simple: Fist half boring, second half fun to watch so all in all I have seen an average nice popcorn movie.

Too much but too little at the same time

    Warning: Spoilers
I was really looking forward to this movie. I really like the direction Marvel is going with the MCU end I really like the Eternals in the comics. And in this particular case I really like the movie to0. It opens the "bigger" world behind the earth and the avengers, really introducing the celestials and a whole new universe (or multiverse).

But I really didn't like the execution of "Eternals". Too many characters introduced in too little time with too much conversation between two characters. Therefore the characters are so superficial with no depth.

The dialogues are nonsense and are only there to explain something to the audience. I know it is a commen tool to explain difficult things within dialogues in movies, but NOT when the characters know each other for hundrets and thousands of years. They don't need to explain each other something. And 2/3 of the movie is only this.

The Deviants are superficial "monsters", not interesting and just there so the Eternals have something to do until they can fight the "endboss" and to have action between the nonsense dialogues.

And the big fight in the end is so unspectecular that I was really disappointed. That was it? This was the fight againt a damn celestial?

I liked that they used the Uni-mind and of cause it is difficult to introduce so many characters in only one movie. And the costumes, the set and the music were preety nice too.

So in the end my review sounds pretty hard because I was a disappointed about the poor execution. Nevertheless I was really happy to see this movie and glad that Marvel made this movie. I'm excited about the direction all of this is going and "Eternals" was only the beginning.

    Nice tribute to the original

    Warning: Spoilers
When I saw the trailers I was not thrilled to see a new Ghostbusters movie in theatres, especially after the 2016 desaster. But when I saw that the director (Jason Reitman) is the son of the original 1984 director (Ivan Reitman) and they worked together on this project, I decided to give it a chance and go to the cinema on a rainy sunday afternoon.

And I have to say that "Ghostbusters: Afterlife" is a pretty nice movie with a lot of fan service for people who loved the 1984 movie. Even with the plot being nearly an exact copy with the same antagonist to fight against, I really had fun watching it. Everything in this movie remembers the 80s and is a big tribute to the iconic Ghostbusters. Definitely worth a theatre visit for a fun afternoon.

    Probably my favorite MCU movie

    Warning: Spoilers
I grew up watching and loving the Tobey Maguire movies. Andrew Garfield as Spider-Man was okay but I didn't really like the movies itself. And Tom Holland with his awesome realtionship to Robert Downey Jr. Aka Tom Hollands Spider-Man with Tony Stark was pretty good too.

My only problem with the first two and especially the first Tom Holland movies was that he didn't gave me those "Spider-Man-Vibes" and was more like a "little Iron Man" than Spider-Man. But this wasn't the fault of Tom Holland but of the screenplay and the need to fit into the MCU.

But the first good thing in this movie was that Tom Hollands Peter Parker now has become a "true" Spider-Man. What I mean with that is, that he has problems he need to solve by himself, conflicts with himself (The "hate" from publicity and the death of May) and isn't Tonys or SHIELDS little boy anymore. He just gets more depth and emotional scenes so I can identify more with him.

The next good thing about this movie is of cause the return of Tobey Maguires and Andrew Garfields Spider-Men and with them all the villains we know and love already. Such many nostalgic moments and a really great cinema experience.

Furthermore I was surprised that in this movie I really liked the humor that I'm usually tired of in other MCU movies. But the chemistry between the three Spider-Men and between the three protagonists of the Tom Holland Trilogy works pretty good in my opinion.

So all in all "No Way Home" is first of all a better Spider-Man-Movie as the previous two with the addition of nostalgic characters and secondly finally a MCU movie that has humor as well as emotional scenes which work and gave more depth to the characters. Finally a really great cinema experience again with a marvel movie.

    Just Okay

    The things I like:

    - The concept to build your plot around historic events
    - The World War Scenes with Conrad Oxford and the whole story of him

    The things I didn't like:

    - First half of the movie, especially the fight scenes with Rasputin
    - The End, especially with the Goat

Rest was okay and overall it's an average movie, nothing spectecular or good.

    Perfect Popcorn Movie

"Uncharted" is the perfect Popcorn-Cinema-Movie when you just want to turn off your brain, ignore the constructed plot and the numerous plotholes and just want to have fun with your friends in cinema on a relaxed evening. If a constructed plot with plotholes bothers you, you are wrong with this one. But if you want a fast, light movie to have fun, you are absolutely right with this movie.

Rather a dark thriller than a typical Superhero-Comic-Movie

"The Batman" is a dark, psychological thriller that creates a pretty similar atmosphere like the "Dark Knight" Trilogy. This is the atmosphere I personally want to see from a Batman movie and of comic/superhero movies in generell. The darkness and rawness I missed in "Venom", I got here tonight. Nice actors, interesting story and antagonists, great pictures with all the black and red elements pairing with smoke and rain. Unfortunately the movie is a bit too long in my opinion and got some "dragged" minutes throughout the nearly 3 hours because of that. But nevertheless a really great movie, an awesome comic/superhero movie and particularly a great cinema experience. 8/10 overall and 9/10 in the comic/superhero genre with the potential to mature and get even better in the future. Excited to rewatch it.
