Princess Marleen wants to marry the love of her life Konrad. Her father though sees no way to allow this and forbids them to see each other ever again. After they met each other anyway, her father has a terrible punishment for Marleen. But this strong love resist time and other barriers throughout a dramatic plot.

King Karl is desperate. His 12 daughters hold secrets from him. Every morning their dancing shoes have holes in their soles. Only Amanda's shoes don't have holes. Many princes already tried to unveil their secrets, but didn't succeed and ended at the gallows. Soldier and puppeteer Anton falls in love with Princess Amanda the first time he sees her. He isn't easily scared off and tries to get behind the princesses' secrets with help from a strange old woman.

Hidden in a vast forest, a cave that flouts great riches is found sealed by a rock, leaving a kingdom in peril. With a selfish and greedy queen at the throne, she is set to open the cave by any means possible.

Baron von und zu Wildungen enjoys giddy king Richard's favor, but not his 'election' as husband for the airhead princess Zilly, so he promises to find her a better catch. The baron aims at studious or prince Arthur, who drives his grim father king Johann to despair by showing no interest in matters of state or suitable girls. The only exception is farm maiden Siebenschön ''seven beauty'), whose parents are arrested and the homestead burnt on the baron's instructions. Masquerading as a knave, she finds employ as king's servant and uses the medicinal skills she learned in the nunnery to deal with his back-ache better then the official quack.

Adaptation of the Grimm Brothers' fairy tale.

The Brothers Grimm arrive at the home of a wealthy Grande Dame who speaks of the many legends surrounding the fable of the cinder girl before telling the "true" story of her ancestor.

Prince Lassman wanders on the hunt. He curiously enters the castle spring there magically by fairy mother Cleo as another absurdly unselfish wish from Helene in desperate attempts to meet the impossible demands of her wicked ingrate stepmother Gertrud, who expects Helene to slave at all kinds of jobs. They picnic in the wood, fall in love at first sight and agree to meet back there. However the king insists Lassman should honor the promise made at a neighbor king's daughter Josephine's birth to conclude an alliance by marriage, which they heirs only learn now. Lassman risks being repudiated to seek his true love, but finds her gone and Gertrud lies she was killed by (imaginary) robbers. Heartbroken, Lassman accepts his political duty. Helene wanders off and disgusted by Gertrud and moves in with an old goat herd, who prospers with her self-reliant help, and gets famous enough as seamstress to be recruited for Josephine's wedding dress. Lassman spots her and goes for love.

Town doctor Georg Roth happily keeps the evil genie Mercurius in an enchanted glass container, but his clumsy apprentice Sophia accidentally breaks it, which released him after many year. He returns to his master and creator, grim lord of the mansion Veith, who immediately plots to reduce the townsfolk to his serfs again. Dr. Roth and his estranged sister, herbal healer and white witch Eda, must team up again, helped by redemption-desperate Sophia and intrepid henchman Jacob. A battle of wits, spells and potions ensues, with Mercurius and the people's free will at stake, as Veith commands all valuables to be delivered to him and everyone turned into stone.

Melisa (Judith Neumann) hat den weiten Weg vom Meer in die Berge auf sich genommen, weil sie, wie schon ihr Großvater, im Bergwerk arbeiten möchte. Um diesen Traum zu verwirklichen, gibt sie sich als junger Mann namens Mathis aus. Als sie ein kleines Fürstentum erreicht, in dem sie Arbeit finden will, gerät sie in ein Ränkespiel: Der schwermütige Fürst Ingolf (Pasquale Aleardi) möchte abdanken, und seine Tochter Sophia (Kristin Alia Hunold) ist die rechtmäßige Thronerbin. Deren böser Onkel Rudolf, Fürst Ingolfs Zwillingsbruder, stiftet jedoch Sophias Bruder Berthold (Langston Uibel) an, selbst nach dem Thron zu greifen, da ihm das als Mann zustehe. Zu diesem Zweck täuschen Rudolf und Berthold eine Entführung Sophias vor, um sie in ein fernes Land zu verkaufen. Mitten in diese Entführung platzt nun Melisa hinein, und es gelingt ihr, Sophia zu befreien. Doch nicht nur Fürst Ingolf herrscht in diesem Reich: Der sagenhafte Berggeist Mehrich (Emanuel Fellmer) lebt im Bergwerkstollen, und die Menschen geben ihm fälschlicherweise die Schuld für alles Unheil. In Wahrheit aber ist Mehrich ein Wesen, das die menschlichen Gefühle nicht versteht und jede Gestalt annehmen kann. Als Mehrich auf Melisa trifft, beschließt er, sie zu beobachten und so die Menschen zu studieren. In diesem Märchen schwindelt jeder, um seinen erwünschten Platz im Leben zu finden: Melisa gibt sich als Mann aus, weil sie glaubt, nur so im Bergbau arbeiten zu können. Prinz Berthold heuchelt Geschwisterliebe vor, weil er auf den Thron scharf ist. Und Erbprinzessin Sophia beschwindelt sich selbst, weil sie sich nicht zutraut, Thronfolgerin zu werden. Am Ende finden sie dann doch - fernab aller Klischees - den Platz im Leben, der ihnen entspricht. Gespiegelt wird das Thema in der Figur des Berggeists Mehrich, einem Gestaltwandler, der ganz selbstverständlich in jede Rolle schlüpfen und gar nicht nachvollziehen kann, warum die Menschen sich so viele Gedanken um Geschlechterrollen und soziale Erwartungen machen.

A retelling of The Princess and The Pea. The princess runs away and finds work at an orphanage to avoid marrying a prince she has never met. She unknowingly meets him while they are both pretending to be commoners which leaves him to decide whether he should follow his heart or marry for the good of the kingdom. Little does he know that he can do both.
