The First World War, the Bolshevik revolution, and the emergence of Soviet regime are seen through the eyes of ordinary people.

A senior ranger and bear hunter in the Russian taiga raises his son as a peasant, but the advent of the 1990s forces their family to move to Khabarovsk, where a powerful criminal gang is taking control.

The mother and daughter are faced with the question of whether to continue the pregnancy or terminate it. Both are pressured by relatives, friends, and doctors. Both go through a difficult path of decision-making. Each episode of the fictional part shows the life circumstances and the path that a woman goes through when she finds herself in a crisis situation. In documentary inserts, representatives of various professions (psychologists, lawyers, gynecologists, clergy) tell how they encounter the problem of abortion in their lives.

Police Captain Pavel Semyonov is used to arresting drunks and drug addicts. He knows that if he thinks and reasons, he will simply be killed. He really wants to stay alive, because his wife Yulia and son Sasha are waiting for him at home.

Masha is a sixteen-year-old schoolgirl who has never seen her father. Her mother tells her that her dad abandoned them when she was not yet born and did not want to be involved in their lives. One day, while sorting through old photos for the graduation party, Masha finds a letter that her mother wrote to her father and learns that his name is Pavel Sokolov and that her parents met at a concert of the band "Zveri" 16 years ago, and then he went into the army and there were no letters from him. Masha finds a man matching her name, surname and age on VK - however, without a photo. On Pavel's page, she sees a post about him going to the anniversary concert of the band "Zveri". Masha is convinced that this is her father and decides to also go to the concert, find him and find out why he left them.

USSR, 1970s. Lena has a real talent for writing - her school essays reflect with incredible precision and warmth not only the world around her and her loved ones, but also her personal experiences, dreams, and hopes. Her mother works in documentary film, and she has her own problems and dreams. It so happened that the daughter's adolescence coincides with her mother's midlife crisis. The story of their touching relationship is told with a kind smile and notes of sadness.
