It wasn't uncommon in the 1940s and 50s for films from Northern Europe to feature nude scenes. Finland was prominent in producing these, often involving the starring actresses. Mostly they centred around the healthy countryside tradition of the sauna and dip in the lake, but a few noirish urban melodramas had nudity of a clear sexual nature. And even some of the sauna frolics were a bit much to pass off as playful innocence.
