Highlighting the career of an original writer and dramatist. Best known for "The Twilight Zone" and "Night Gallery," Rod Serling was also highly profilic as a writer of television when it was recorded live. His biggest contribution to film, is his story treatment of "Planet of the Apes."

Television was rapidly becoming an exciting medium for every New York actor and writer, during the 1950s. Some excellent television dramas resulted.

American television produced some of the best drama when recorded live. Numerous actors learnt or honed their craft, via appearances on shows like "Playhouse 90," "General Electric Theater," "Kraft Theatre" and others.

The Golden Age of live American Television: late 40s - late 50s.

There are lots of seldom or never seen anthology tv shows from years past that were a great place to find many wonderful character actors in different roles... sure wish one of the fun retro channels would bring them back on!
