Afrocentric Films Collaborative has put together this collection of quality Black Cinema so the general public can research these titles and know that these titles and stories exist.  Each title is centered on some aspect of Africa and its Diaspora experience.  This goal of this list is to show the rich diversity of storytelling we have as well as the plethora of stories that have not been told and must be told to e positives stories and images of Black/African peoples and cultures.

Introduction to Afrocentric Cinema Studies

A few are tagged as Music/Musical (http://www.imdb.com/search/title?lists=ls021564702,ls025185363&sort=release_date,asc), but I've watched them and would not consider them either.

Around 360 titles are singing-cowboy westerns made between 1930-1960. I didn't want to watch those as part of my sequential viewing of musicals, so I put them aside.

The majority, 1385+ titles, have "release" year 1998+, and too few votes for me to believe they were released in theatres across the country.
