David Hughes was born in 1937 in Springs, Eastern Transvaal, South Africa. He was a cinematographer and director, known for National Geographic Explorer (1985), Lions of the African Night (1987) and Missing Link (1988). He was married to Carol Hughes. He died in March 2009 in Cape Town, South Africa.
