The fourth Dlc for WWE 2K24 has arrived this week, entitled Global Superstars, bringing with it seven new playable characters. Ronda Rousey has released a trailer for a horror movie called Tables. There isn't some hidden meaning in that title either. It's literally a B horror flick about killer furniture. Some of her wrestling friends are along for the ride, with Travis Browne, Julia DeMars, Devon Hughes and Saraya Bevis all popping up in this utterly bizarre creation. It's so bizarre, one has to wonder, is this even real?

If you are an old school fan of Ecw there are certain factions and stars that tend to stand out. For me the Dudley Boyz were one such faction. In Ecw, WWE, and beyond they created a pathway to destruction that has made them one of the best tag teams in history. Straight Outta Dudleyville: The Legacy of the Dudley Boyz gives the WWE version of this history.
As is usual in these types of sets, we get a short documentary about Bubba Ray and D-Von looking at how they got into wrestling, all the way up to their return to the WWE. The documentary is fun, and even gives part of the history that some fans may be unaware of. While the documentary may feel a little short, it pays respect not only to their Ecw years, but even dares to mention Bubba’s success in Tna.

The WWE is experiencing something of a resurgence in its tag team divisions at the moment, and while teams like The Usos, Los Matadores and the fabulous The New Day are very impressive and entertaining, there was a time in the WWE just over a decade ago, that the tag team division was something truly phenomenal and a large part of this was due to the Dudley Boyz.
Initially part of the larger Dudley Brothers stable at Ecw, Bubba-Ray and D-Von Dudley soon broke away to become their own two man wrecking machine and in the process laid the foundations for the tag team that is still a dominating force in the WWE today.
Straight Outta Dudleyville is a celebration of the first twenty years of this epic partnership and as is their way these days, WWE has once again assembled a fascinating, informative and entertaining documentary to accompany it.
Initially part of the larger Dudley Brothers stable at Ecw, Bubba-Ray and D-Von Dudley soon broke away to become their own two man wrecking machine and in the process laid the foundations for the tag team that is still a dominating force in the WWE today.

SmackDown was a real struggle this week, and that hasn’t been the case at all for the program over the past few months. It’s somewhat understandable that WWE would gloss over the Thursday night broadcast this time around, WrestleMania 32 is imminent after all. That doesn’t excuse the incredibly threadbare nature of the show, one which failed to elicit much excitement from the live crowd whatsoever.
There were positives, even the most pedestrian of WWE shows can have an upside or two. Overall however, there was a feeling that the promotion were already looking beyond SmackDown, instead of using it to further build towards the main matches people will see at ‘Mania. It’s safe to say the program wasn’t exactly horrible, but there was next to nothing which could accurately be dubbed essential.
And yet, there were enjoyable sections of SmackDown. Only a trio...

Today, Jake ‘The Snake’ Roberts looks healthy, coherent and happy. Just a few short years ago, that wasn’t the case and the man’s life was in pretty poor shape. The demons which have plagued Jake during his life have been well-documented, so it’s heartening to see the man getting his existence back in fine fettle.
Thanks to the help of Diamond Dallas Page and his closest friends, Roberts has turned the sinking ship into a more healthy vessel. The former WWF and WCW star also has pro wrestling fans to thank for getting things back together, but at the same time he can’t help but think back to a time when they pretty much cost him a lot of money.

WWE Smackdown was taped in Indianapolis on Tuesday night, with Triple H opening the show with a promo on the injured Roman Reigns. Worryingly for WWE, Hunter got cheers. He was stood next to a podium with the WWE Title belt and talked up how he’s going to beat Reigns at WrestleMania.
The first match of the night was Sheamus, Wade Barrett, Rusev and Alberto Del Rio versus Kalisto, Sin Cara, Neville and Dolph Ziggler. Barrett was back in the ring for the first time in a while, but it was Sheamus scoring the pin with a Brogue Kick on Neville.
Kevin Owens was interviewed by Renee Young. He called out Dean Ambrose for an Intercontinental Title rematch, but he of course knew that Ambrose was out injured. Big Show then turned up to set up a match for later.

Four-time WWE Champion Brock Lesnar has been confirmed as an entrant in the 2016 Royal Rumble match on January 24th.
His participation has been made official following this week’s Raw, in which Heyman suggested that the winner of the Rumble face Brock for the title at WrestleMania 32. Vince was reluctant to follow through with such an idea, and instead booked Lesnar to be in the match itself.

Another Ecw original is thought to be returning in time for WWE’s TLC pay per view on December 13th, and could well compete in a multi-man match against the Wyatt Family.
According to reports from WrestlingInc and EWrestlingNews, another legend of the extreme Philadelphia-based promotion could well align with the Dudley Boyz and Tommy Dreamer, taking on the Wyatts in some form of eight-man match at the PPV.
This rumour is sure to provoke much debate regarding the identity of the potential returner. This week’s episode of WWE Smackdown was taped in Hershey, Pennsylvania. Here are the results of what happened.
Smackdown began with Roman Reigns, Dean Ambrose and The Usos standing in the ring for a promo. Reigns spoke about how those guys were his family. They were interrupted by The League of Nations (Sheamus, King Barrett, Rusev & Alberto Del Rio) followed by The New Day. Sheamus announced that it would be Reigns and friends against The League of Nations. Hell in a Cell is a pay per view that has spawned some classic WWE matches over the years. But since the end of the Attitude Era, and in particular the more “hardcore” style of wrestling, the idea of two men fighting in a cage seems to have lost steam within the company. Especially in the current PG-era of the WWE, where brutality is no longer favoured. The tag team scene is experiencing a bit of a renaissance as of late, and one of the key contributing factors to that has been the return of The Dudley Boyz. The massively popular duo has been a shot in the arm for the stagnant division, and their reemergence garnered one of the biggest crowd pops in recent history.
Having seasoned veterans to work with will be a big plus for the relatively inexperienced teams, and Bubba Ray and D-Von have never been shy about sharing their opinions and taking the lead when it comes to putting together matches. Whether or not their return ends up being a long term thing remains to be seen, but as for now we can look forward to at the very least a few months of getting the tables.
The “brothers” make for an interesting contrast in interview styles; Bubba is brash...

Tna Wrestling will induct referee Earl Hebner into their Hall of Fame on October 3 in his home state of Virginia.
The 66-year-old will join the likes of Sting, Kurt Angle, Team 3D (Bully Ray & Brother Devon) and Jeff Jarrett in the elite talent of wrestling so far picked for Tna’s Hall. There’s little doubting that Earl is up there with the most famous referees of the ‘modern era’ in wrestling thanks to his work in both WWE and Tna, so much so that fans are asking the question as to whether he deserves a spot in Vince McMahon’s version…

Tna Wrestling will induct referee Earl Hebner into their Hall of Fame on Saturday, October 3 in Salem, Virginia. It’s a show that won’t be televised, but Hebner is a Virginia native, so it’s a way to honour him in his home state.
The following night is Tna’s Bound For Glory PPV, so there’s a chance they may film some of it and show it during the broadcast.
Hebner commented on the honour in a press release issued by Tna:

A new video posted by IGN has apparently revealed the (almost) full roster for WWE 2K16.
It is common knowledge now that the new game will have a bumper roster of 120 unique characters, but the list below falls a few short of that while Hulk Hogan is still a part of it. The Hulkster has been removed from the game altogether for reasons that you don’t need me to tell you about.
There are a number of shocking inclusions, including Superstars down the pecking order in Nxt and Attitude Era stars who had very little to do with cover star Stone Cold Steve Austin. While there are also a number of notable exclusions, including the Legion of Doom, who seemed to be nailed on for a place in the new title after leaked video footage appeared to show Jerry ‘The King’ Lawler and Jim Ross recording commentary...

WWE wanted to use Bully Ray (former Bubba Ray Dudley in WWE) for a Nxt live event in Philadelphia on May 15, but they changed their mind after he appeared on May 8th’s Tna Impact. It ended up being Tommy Dreamer in the spot as the guy that put over rising Nxt star Baron Corbin in a singles match.
At the time there was a lot of speculation that it would be Ray against Corbin since he was also at WWE’s Royal Rumble back in January. The reason why they went with Dreamer, according to the Wrestling Observer, is because WWE lost interest in Ray after he had a one night only Tna appearance as a guest referee for a match between Kurt Angle and Eric Young.
Dreamer has worked for Tna Wrestling for several months as a backstage agent that sometimes participates in matches and angles.

On last night’s Raw, Luke Harper and Erick Rowan defeated the Los Matadores with the 3D (Dudley Death Drop) finishing move that The Dudley Boyz made famous.
The move got a big reaction from the New Orleans crowd with “3D” screamed by attendees but despite this, the announcers awkwardly referred to the move as “The Way”.

Bubba Ray Dudley made his triumphant return to WWE last Sunday at the Royal Rumble. He was the third man in the match, received a loud ovation from the Philadelphia fans and eliminated two guys. He only lasted 4:44 in the match before being eliminated by Bray Wyatt, but it was a great return for him.

The 2004 Royal Rumble match is the one that WWE really doesn’t want its fans to remember. That’s because it was the night where Chris Benoit had what was arguably the greatest performance in the history of the Rumble match. Maybe Ric Flair’s run in 1992 was better, but at the time Benoit’s was right there with him.
Three years after this big victory at the 2004 Rumble, Benoit killed his wife Nancy and son Daniel before he killed himself. It was the saddest thing that’s ever happened in WWE, so the company has done what they can to just ignore it. Benoit’s written out of their history although his matches still remain in full on WWE Network if fans want to check them out.

It was a new era for WWE as they headed to the 2003 Royal Rumble event. The Rock wasn’t around on a full time basis anymore although he did return for WrestleMania and Steve Austin controversially walked away for much of 2002 after being upset with the creative direction of the company. Others had to fill the void.
Some people like to refer to this period as the “Ruthless Aggression Era” since “attitude” was gone and they were all about making new stars. It was time for the likes of Brock Lesnar, John Cena, Randy Orton and Batista to step up to the plate as the next group of stars that WWE could build around.
In addition to the Rumble match, Scott Steiner debuting (or returning since he was there about a decade earlier) was considered a big deal just because he was a big name from WCW that they just brought in.

After their Tna contracts expired last year, Bully Ray and Devon (who wrestled as The Dudley Boyz in a highly successful WWE spell from 1999-2005) reportedly held talks with WWE officials about returning to the company in some capacity.
It’s unknown whether anything official came from these discussions but it’s clear WWE were interested in bringing the veterans back into the fold, possibly as Nxt trainers (as was rumoured a few months ago). As well as a possible last run with the company (ala the modern day New Age Outlaws), WWE could use The Dudleyz for anything as varied as a Hall Of Fame induction to future video game releases.

Austin was out from November 1999 to October 2000, so other people had to step up. Thankfully for WWE, they had guys like The Rock and Triple H waiting in the wings. The news was revealed last month that Tna Superstar Bully Ray (formerly Bubba Ray Dudley in WWE & Ecw) informed the Tna roster that his contract his up. He told his peers that he wasn’t sure if he was going to stick around. Since Tna is hurting right now and the future of the company is very much in doubt, fans started to speculate that maybe he’ll go back to World Wrestling Entertainment. He hasn’t said anything about it publicly, but it has to be something he’s thinking about.

For the next five years they proved that they were still one of the best tag teams in the history of wrestling.

In a shocking turn of events, it seems that Bully Ray is done with Tna Wrestling. Word is coming in that the former Tna champion’s contract is either soon to be up or already is. Ray was reportedly telling other talents that this past weekend’s string of live events was his last appearance with the company.
It’s speculated that Bully Ray was in the midst of negotiating a new deal with Tna Wrestling, however, it seems that the two parties could not come to an agreement on terms. It’s further being reported that Tna was unwilling or unable to give Ray the type of deal he wanted — the exact specifics are unknown at this time. Tna Wrestling is currently without a new deal for their flagship Impact program, but that isn’t stopping them from hyping their next set of tapings from the Manhattan Center next week.
The company has said there will be a major announcement regarding the tapings, which will be the second set in which Tna has done from the arena, which hosted Monday Night Raw during its early years.
Tna has already announced that former Ecw and WWE superstar Yoshihiro Tajiri will be present at the show, continuing the trend of former Ecw stars appearing on the program. Recently both Rhino and Tommy Dreamer have been brought in to participate in a high-profile program with surging star Ethan Carter III and Bully Ray. Ray’s longtime tag team partner Devon Dudley also made his return to the show during the last set of tapings, which has received positive reviews from fans.

Like Morris, I am neither an actuarial scientist nor a demographer. So, our interpretations of the data should be taken with a grain of salt. My results were somewhat different from Morris’ due to a difference data set and changes in how we calculated actuarial predictions.

I love Tna. I love Jakks Pacific. I was so excited when Jakks announced that they acquired the license to make Tna action figures. I was so pumped. I loved what Jakks had done with the WWE license from the Ruthless Aggression figures, to the Deluxe figures, to the Classic Superstars line. Jakks gave us, without a doubt, the best years of wrestling figures when they had the WWE license. Since Jakks acquired the Tna line in 2010, we’ve gotten 10 sets of figures. Just ten! When Jakks had WWE we would get more than 10 sets a year!
