Over a decade after its debut, Steven Soderbergh’s historical medical drama, The Knick, has surged into HBO Max’s Top 10 across several countries to fill the gap left by The Pitt. Set in 1900s New York, the show stars Clive Owenas Dr. John Thackery, who leads a team of doctors at the Knickerbocker Hospital as they pioneer risky, untested medical procedures. Despite its gritty and dark premise, the show is being rediscovered by global audiences on the streaming platform.
The Knick is currently sizzling in the top 10 ballpark in countries including France, Croatia, Portugal, Poland, Romania, and the Netherlands. The period drama is consistently holding the #4 spot in most regions tracked by the platform as of August 7. The 2014 show currently holds a 92% critics’ score and 96% audience score on Rotten Tomatoes.

The stories of serial killers have been told for decades, and they'll most likely continue to be shared for many more decades to come. Those individuals have scarred many, turning what is usually in horror movies into real-life, traumatic, gruesome events. From Jeffrey Dahmer to Ed Gein (in the upcoming Season 3), Ryan Murphy and Ian Brennan have brought these stories to the forefront of television once again with their Netflix series Monster. The biographical crime drama anthology premiered on September 21, 2022, on the streamer. It became a trending topic for weeks, with many praising the performances of Evan Peters, who played Jeffrey Dahmer, and Niecy Nash, who played his neighbor in the first season.
For its fourth season, Ella Beatty will step into the killer role, portraying Lizzie Borden. In the anthology, a different serial killer is highlighted in each season. What started as a limited series transpired into something bigger,...

Netflix‘s true crime anthology series Monster is coming for a fourth season with America’s most notorious murder cases, the Lizzie Borden murders. She was accused of murdering both her father and stepmother with an axe. In 1892, she was a seemingly 32-year-old Sunday school teacher in Fall River, Massachusetts. Lizzy was innocent until her father and stepmother were found murdered in their home.
She became the prime suspect in the killing, which was committed with a hatchet. Although Lizzie was ultimately acquitted, public suspicion lingered for the rest of her life.
Now, Ryan Murphy‘s Monster: Season 4 will re-examine this chilling case. The Emmy-nominated crime series will focus on the events that led to the murders and the controversial trial that captivated the whole nation.

The ten-episode series Dahmer – Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story (read our review Here) was such a huge success for the Netflix streaming service back in 2022 that Netflix ordered two more seasons of the show from its creators, Ian Brennan and American Horror Story co-creator Ryan Murphy. Monsters: The Lyle and Erik Menendez Story was released less than a year ago, and has had quite an impact on the real lives of the title characters. Right before that season premiered last September, it was announced that Sons of Anarchy‘s Charlie Hunnam had signed on to play murderer and graverobber Ed Gein in Monster season 3 (which is apparently called The Original Monster). Although that season doesn’t have a premiere date, it’s expected to be streaming by the end of the year. Now, Variety reports that Monster season 4, which is going to tell the story of Lizzie Borden, is already casting!

Even before Charlie Hunnam has a chance to terrorize Wisconsinites as Ed Gein, Ryan Murphy has announced the fourth outing of his highly controversial and binge-worthy Monster series for Netflix. For Season 4, the man behind American Horror Story, Feud, and Scream Queens has set his sights on one of history’s most notorious figures, Lizzie Borden, according to Variety. Ryan Murphy is ready to up the ante with Season 3 of Monsterand has a warning for those out there with weak stomachs — maybe this isn’t the show for you. In a recent interview on Gavin Newsom’s podcast, This is Gavin Newsom, the series creator told the California governor that the upcoming installment, which is set to see Charlie Hunnam portray serial killer Ed Gein, “is not for the squeamish.” That warning is certainly saying something considering the first season, during which Evan Peters appeared as the notorious Jeffrey Dahmer, not only included the killer’s atrocious crimes, but also pointed to the possibility that he may have given his neighbors food made from human body parts.
For those who may not be familiar with Gein’s story, the man who would become known as “The Butcher of Plainfield” was a Wisconsin native who murdered at least two women in the 1950s.

Teen dramas flourished in the early 2000s, especially on the network The WB with "Gilmore Girls," "Everwood," and "One Tree Hill." Writer, director, and actor Steve Antin was inspired by a stop at a New England gas station where four teenage girls were working as attendants, and one of them was the daughter of the station owner. "I just thought this was the sweetest thing I ever saw," Antin told the New York Daily News. This led him to create "Young Americans," where wholesome Americana collides with upper-crust privilege, set against a backdrop of Connecticut's sparkling lakes and a quaint town square.
"Young Americans" is about an elite summer program for future Ivy League students, and it was appropriately scheduled to air during the summer of 2000, filling the "Dawson's Creek" timeslot while the series was on hiatus. It was originally going to air in the fall of 1999 before getting tangled...

The world of film entertainment knows Zack Snyder for the director's unmatched ability to weave lengthy storylines. Oftentimes, audiences don't get to see the entirety of the work, but with his Netflix sci-fi franchise, Rebel Moon, they get to see quite a lot. Since stepping aside from the DC Universe, the sci-fi franchise has become the director's most popular and profitable. The first film, Rebel Moon: Part One — A Child of Fire, was released in December 2023, and was followed a few months later in 2024 by the sequel, Rebel Moon – Part Two: The Scargiver. The Rebel Moon films follow a human colony on the outskirts of the universe that finds itself the target of a much larger enemy. To resist and fight subjugation, they rely on a small band of rebels, with one being a famed officer with the tyrannical ruling force.

Despite seemingly wanting to create his own Star Wars and build an ever-growing franchise brimming with sequels and spin-offs, it’s been pretty quiet when it comes to Zack Snyder and the future of the Netflix action sci-fi epic series, Rebel Moon. Until now. The divisive director has now finally teased the future of the equally divisive franchise while revealing the first look at the upcoming Rebel Moon video game tie-in, Blood Line (for which you can check out the new trailer below).
Speaking with Variety, Snyder at last answered the question that fans of the filmmaker have been asking for months: will Rebel Moon get more sequels? Citing “uptown problems,” the director revealed that, while he’s busy right now with an action thriller for Netflix, he has “tons of stories in mind” when it comes what’s next for Rebel Moon.

Rebel Moon has quickly become one of Zack Snyder’s most popular and profitable sci-fi franchises after leaving the DC universe behind, but it could be a while before audiences get to see the next installment. The first two movies were released in 2023 and 2024, respectively, and quickly became some of Netflix’s most frequently watched blockbusters on the platform.
The Rebel Moon cast includes names such as Sofia Boutella, Ed Skrein, Charlie Hunnam, and Charlotte Maggi, and follows a human colony on the outskirts of the universe that finds itself targeted by a much larger enemy and forced to seek help from the neighboring planets. Despite mixed reviews for Rebel Moon, the film was received very warmly by Zack Snyder’s existing fan base.
However, Snyder has recently revealed that Rebel Moon isn’t currently his priority. Speaking with Variety, the director has confirmed that he’s currently working on...

It seems like that the craze of true crime is nowhere near over and it is incredibly evident by the massive success of Netflix’s true crime anthology series Monsters, and it is because of this success, the streaming giant has decided to renew the true crime drama series for a fourth before its Season 3 premiere in 2025.
With Ryan Murphy and Ian Brennan returning as head writers and Max Winkler returning to direct, the upcoming Season 4 about The Lizzie Borden case is set to begin principal photography in Los Angeles in September this year.
Until now, Monsters has tackled two popular true crime stories, including the disturbing case of serial killer and sex offender Jeffrey Dahmer and the equally disturbing story of the Menendez brothers, who killed their parents in their own home, but the whole truth is even more stomach-turning.

Ryan Murphy isn’t slowing down anytime soon. The creator behind Monster — Netflix’s hit true crime series, has locked in the subject of Season 4, and it’s going to shake things up in a big way. According to Variety, the next chapter will tell the story of Lizzie Borden, a woman accused of murdering her father and stepmother with an axe in 1892. But unlike the men featured in the show so far, Borden was found not guilty.
The first season of Monster shocked audiences with the horrifying case of Jeffrey Dahmer, with Evan Peters playing the infamous serial killer. Then, Season 2 focused on the Menendez brothers, who were convicted of killing their wealthy parents. Now, fans are still waiting for Season 3, which will center on Ed Gein, also known as The Butcher of Plainfield. He’s the Wisconsin killer whose gruesome crimes inspired films like Psycho and The Texas Chainsaw Massacre.

Now, Variety hears that Monster season 4 is already in the works, even though no official season 4 renewal has been announced,...

Ryan Murphy has an axe to grind with Netflix. The streamer has reportedly ordered a fourth season of Murphy’s Monster anthology series, this time centered around infamous (alleged) axe murderer Lizzie Borden.
The historical figure was tried and acquitted for the murders of her father and stepmother in 1892, at which point she was ostracized by her Massachusetts community. Borden story was previously adapted into the Lifetime limited series The Lizzie Borden Chronicles, starring Christina Ricci in the title role.

Variety has learned from sources that a fourth season focused on the Lizzie Borden case is currently prepping for a potential fall shoot, though no official Season 4 renewal has been announced at this time.

This July, Netflix is starting the fireworks early. Pacific Rim, Guillermo del Toro's 2013 monsters vs. robots blockbuster, is coming to the streaming service. Charlie Hunnam, Idris Elba, and Rinko Kikuchi star in the science fiction extravaganza, which grossed over $400 million Usd from the global box office. Pacific Rim will be available to stream on Netflix starting on July 1. It joins Pacific Rim: The Black, a Netflix-original animated series that is also available to watch on the streamer.
Pacific Rim came about in the wake of another project collapsing: del Toro's long-dreamed-of adaptation of H.P. Lovecraft's At the Mountains of Madness. The film was penned by del Toro and Travis Beacham, and was conceptualized as a loving homage to mecha anime and kaiju movies. The film, which bore a $190 million budget, was filmed in Toronto, Ontario, Canada; it was del Toro's first film produced there, and it has subsequently become his home base.

Miles Teller’s popularity exploded a few years ago thanks to the release of Top Gun: Maverick, and now a more recent sci-fi thriller from the star has stumbled into profound streaming success. Teller stars alongside Anya Taylor-Joy in The Gorge, a sci-fi monster film following two operatives who are stationed at towers on opposite sides of a dangerous gorge. The Gorge hit Apple TV+ earlier this year on February 14, and despite not receiving any form of theatrical release with a $70 million budget, the film has found sustained dominance on streaming charts, currently in the top 10 in more than 50 countries around the world, including occupying the #3 spot in the United States. The Gorge earned 63% from critics on Rotten Tomatoes, and the audience-driven Popcornmeter came to rest at 75%.
