Christopher Nolan at an event for Inception (2010)
IMAX tickets for Christopher Nolan’s The Odyssey are already on sale a year in advance
Christopher Nolan at an event for Inception (2010)
Christopher Nolan’s The Odyssey is building quite mythic hype with it being the director’s most expensive film, which includes being shot entirely with IMAX cameras. IMAX boss Rich Gelfond had explained, “A year before Chris started filming The Odyssey, he called me and said he wanted to make a whole film shot with IMAX cameras.” Gelfond added, “That couldn’t be done for a lot of reasons. There were lots of issues.” Then, he said, “‘I’m going to give you a challenge. If you can figure out how to solve these problems, I’m going to make Odyssey 100% film with film with IMAX cameras’, and we’ve solved his problems. So, this will be the first film ever, at least filmed 100% with IMAX cameras.”

The teaser trailer can currently be seen in theaters, but it hasn’t made its way online just yet. Universal and IMAX are...

Marvel Star Tom Holland Raves The Odyssey Was His Best Film Set Experience Yet
Image
After months of rumors and anticipation, a short teaser for Christopher Nolan’s The Odyssey is finally being shown exclusively in IMAX theaters.

So far, Nolan and Universal seem committed to keeping the footage a theatrical-only experience. As of now, there are no plans to release the teaser online, meaning fans will have to head to the theater to get their first glimpse of what’s next from the acclaimed director.

Still, the footage has leaked, so you can Click Here to check it out.

The teaser finally confirms what many fans had guessed, Tom Holland is playing Telemachus, the son of Odysseus and prince of Ithaca. Nolan is still keeping most other character details tightly under wraps.

In an interview with GQ, Holland praised the project, calling it the best on-set experience of his career. That’s a bold statement, especially from someone who’s starred in three Spider-Man...

Christopher Nolan at an event for Inception (2010)
Tom Holland says Nolan’s The Odyssey is ‘Unlike anything we’ve ever seen’ while praising the filmmaker’s impeccable style and craft
Christopher Nolan at an event for Inception (2010)
Few films garner as much hype as the latest Christopher Nolan release, and according to Tom Holland, the filmmaker’s next opus, The Odyssey, is no exception. Speaking to Variety about his Odyssey experience, Holland praised the ensemble cast, elaborate sets, and the director’s impeccable attention to detail.

“It was amazing. The job of a lifetime, without a doubt. The best experience I’ve had on a film set,” Holland said when asked about his experience on The Odyssey set. “Incredible. It was exciting. It was different. And I think the movie is going to be unlike anything we’ve ever seen.”

Holland, who in the past was known for having loose lips about Marvel projects, loves to talk a big game. Still, who could blame him? The mere thought of Christopher Nolan adapting Homer’s epic poem is almost too awesome to comprehend.

“Working with Chris, getting to...

‘Sons of Anarchy’ Star Was in Spielberg’s 100% Audience-Rated Classic – Then Left Christianity to Become Gobind Seva Singh
Image
Before actor Ryan Hurst played the loyal and tragic Opie Winston in Sons of Anarchy, he starred in 2002’s Taken. This was a miniseries produced by the legendary Steven Spielberg and became widely popular for its gripping alien abduction storyline. While in the series he played a man caught between family and a mystery much bigger than himself, it somehow mirrored his real life. That’s right, years later, after Taken, Hurst made a very deeply personal and spiritual shift and left Christianity to embrace Sikhism.

Not only that, but he also adopted a new name, which was Gobind Seva Singh. The name represents devotion and service, which are the two core Sikh values. He didn’t stop there and also began practicing Kundalini yoga and became a certified teacher. Today, he’s more than just an actor and has become a powerful voice for spiritual growth. Let’s dive deeper!

Christopher Nolan Plans To Make History As The Odyssey Will Be The First Film Shot 100% In IMAX
Image
Christopher Nolan’s next cinematic venture, the mythological epic The Odyssey, is set to break new ground by being the first commercial feature filmed exclusively with IMAX cameras.

Nolan is no stranger to the IMAX format, having incorporated it into key sequences across several of his major films, including Dunkirk, Interstellar, The Dark Knight, Tenet, and most recently, Oppenheimer.

The IMAX format has proven to be a lucrative component of Nolan’s box office appeal—IMAX screenings reportedly accounted for 20% of Oppenheimer’s impressive $975.8 million global haul.

On the technological achievement, Imax CEO Rich Gelfond stated, "Chris called me up and said, ‘If you can figure out how to solve the problems, I will make [Odyssey] 100 percent in Imax.’ And that’s what we’re doing."

Gelfond added, "He forced us to rethink that side of our business, our film recorders, our film cameras.”

Historically, the sheer bulk of IMAX...

Can The Walking Dead Zombies Talk?
Image
In the history of the zombie genre, those shuffling meat-munchers have been known to do more than just moan and groan. The likes of "Warm Bodies," "Return of the Living Dead," "Z Nation," and "iZombie" have all seen members of the undead actually get chatty on occasion. But did that particular element ever find its way into "The Walking Dead" at any point during the show's 11-season run?

The small screen adaptation of Robert Kirkman's hellish, post-apocalyptic comic books included some true horrors, many of which were brought about not by the titular terror wandering the world but by the last dregs of humanity trying to avoid them. Admittedly, though, the one thing that stayed consistent was the walkers themselves. Traveling down stairs, alone or in pairs, everyone knew where they stood with the show's undead (which were born from a virus in France and only ever focused on...

From recent winners like Green Book and Crash, already aging interestingly, to old-school classics like Casablanca and The Apartment, proving their timelessness. The same everlasting question is dredged up every single year: Decades before the release of the Oscar-winning film No Country for Old Men, the Coen brothers were raking in awards nominations left and right for Fargo, Barton Fink, and more.

However, it cannot be ignored that in the years immediately preceding their Oscar-winning year with the hit Western, the brotherly duo was experiencing something of a critical cold streak. 2004 saw the release of The Ladykillers, the lowest rated film in the Coen brothers catalog by a wide margin.

Taylor Sheridan Gave His Best Performance Before He Was Famous
Image
Taylor Sheridan has made a name for himself in the TV industry as the creator and writer of a plethora of hit shows like Yellowstone, its prequels 1883 and 1923, Special Ops: Lioness, Tulsa King, and the recent drama Landman starring Billy Bob Thornton as a Texas oil man (which even Stephen King is a fan of). His scripts also made it to the big screen with the 2015 movie Sicario and his project Hell or High Water (2016), which was nominated for four Oscars, including Best Original Screenplay and Best Picture. However, before Sheridan became a powerhouse behind the scenes, he was an aspiring actor. After a few guest spots in the mid-aughts, he finally landed a recurring role on the hit FX biker drama Sons of Anarchy.

Soa, which ran from 2008 to 2014, follows members of the Sons of Anarchy Motorcycle Club, Redwood Originals (abbreviated Samcro). Created by Kurt Sutter and set...

A Sons of Anarchy Theory Turns Netflix’s Upcoming Western Into a Secret Samcro Prequel
Image
Kurt Sutter’s latest project, The Abandons, has already got fans buzzing with excitement and speculation. Since the success of Sons of Anarchy, Sutter has built a reputation for creating gritty worlds full of outcasts and violence, and his new Netflix Western appears no different. Set in 1850s Oregon, The Abandons might seem like a shift from his outlaw biker tales. However, there are several hints that the show could be more connected to Sutter’s previous work than initially thought. It could be a hidden prequel to Sons of Anarchy.

The Abandons follows a group of outcast families fighting against corrupt enemies in a lawless landscape. Sound familiar? While not much has been released about the show, that hasn’t stopped fans from speculating that The Abandons will offer a backstory to Samcro's origins and the Teller family at the center of it all. However, with the recent news...

Who Plays Beta On The Walking Dead?
Image
In the show that warned us "Don't Dead, Open Inside," there were worse things at the end of the world than "The Walking Dead" and poor signage. One of the hit show's most terrifying characters was the Whisperers' disturbing number two, and eventual leader, Beta. Like the rest of his group, Beta sneakily shuffled onto the scene in Season 9 wearing the skin of the dead and taking things a little further than most in forgetting his existence before the outbreak. Devoted to his leader Alpha (Samantha Morton) as much as his keeping his true identity secret, Beta met a grisly and well-deserved ending at the hands of Daryl Dixon (Norman Reedus) and Negan (Jeffrey Dean Morgan) and was a staple in delivering the scares besides the non-verbal bitey nuisances that plagued the end of the world.

But who was the brave soul that brought this brutal and straight-up unhinged character...

Kim Coates's Dead City Casting Continues The Best Walking Dead Villain Trend
Image
The Walking Dead: Dead City season 2 will star Kim Coates as its new main antagonist, which will continue a Walking Dead villain trend. As Dead City already features one of The Walking Dead's most powerful villains, the next season is set to include an exciting battle of wills. The premise for Dead City has been one of the most interesting of the Walking Dead spin-offs, as it forces two enemies to work together with a common goal. Negan and Maggie's bitter history has kept the tension throughout Dead City, which left Maggie with a choice to make.

Dead City season 1 ended with Negan being captured by the Dama, who wants the old villainous Negan to bring her people together and prepare for war. This left Maggie torn between killing Negan and rescuing him, after spending a decade wishing for revenge. Negan is always more dangerous when he is offered power,...

Sons of Anarchy Completely Glossed Over Its 2 Biggest Tragedies
Image
There are many tragedies throughout the seven seasons of Sons of Anarchy, but the show ended up glossing over its two biggest ones, which even mirror each other. Kurt Sutters crime drama TV show Sons of Anarchy took the audience to the fictional town of Charming, California, to meet the title motorcycle club. Leading Sons of Anarchy is Jackson Jax Teller (Charlie Hunnam), VP of the club and the stepson of the clubs President, Clay Morrow (Ron Perlman). Sons of Anarchy begins with Jax finding his fathers manifesto and wanting to fulfill his vision for the club.

However, Jax soon learns that his fathers vision and Clays plans clash, and he has to make some hard and questionable decisions for the benefit and safety of the club and his family. Unfortunately, many of these decisions have horrible consequences for Jax and his loved ones, and more than once, Jax and...

This Sons of Anarchy Death Left Creator Kurt Sutter Heartbroken
Image
Sons of Anarchy doesn't lack gruesome deaths. The hard-hitting biker show that centers around a motorcycle club and its illegitimate weapons business has caused the downfall of many. By the end of seven seasons, only a handful of characters make it out of the events alive. The show doesn't hold punches when it comes to killing off major characters. While Jax Teller's final demise is heartbreaking and his mother's death also shocked fans, one death, in particular, has haunted the show creator, Kurt Sutter.

Opie's death was one of the most heartbreaking and brutal moments in Sons of Anarchy, especially with everything that led to that moment. However, Opie's death also serves as a pivotal moment for Jax. Without it, Jax wouldn't have become the person he's meant to become, and the rest of the show wouldn't have been possible.

How Did Opie Die?

Opie Winston, played by Ryan Hurst,...

Soa Creator Departs His New Netflix Show Mid-Filming, Report Details Creative Struggle With Execs
Image
Sons of Anarchy creator Kurt Sutter has exited his new Netflix western series The Abandons. Starring Lena Headey and Gillian Anderson, the series was also set to serve as a reunion for Sutter with his previous Sons of Anarchy castmates Michael Ornstein and Ryan Hurst. The Abandons was set to be Sutters first major television project after he was fired from the Sons of Anarchy spinoff series Mayans M.C. in 2019, serving as its creator, showrunner, and executive producer.

As originally reported by Deadline, Sutter has exited work on The Abandons with three weeks left before production was scheduled to wrap. While Netflix and Sutter's reps have declined to comment, sources suggest the change came as the result of creative differences that arose after the streamer had viewed rough cuts of the first few episodes.

Friction reportedly began when an early cut of the first episode ran an hour and 40 minutes long,...

Kurt Sutter Exits His Netflix Western ‘The Abandons’
Image
Netflix and creator Kurt Sutter have parted ways on the streamer’s western The Abandons.

Sutter, who created the drama and was serving as showrunner, left the show over creative differences with Netflix. The Abandons, set in the Oregon Territory in the 1850s, has a few weeks of production on its season remaining and will continue filming in Calgary, Alberta.

Netflix declined comment.

Netflix gave a straight-to-series order to The Abandons in October 2022. The series, which stars Lena Headey and Gillian Anderson, centers on a group of outlier families in 1850s Oregon who come together to fight a corrupt, wealthy power that wants to force them off their land. The cast also includes Nick Robinson, Diana Silvers, Lamar Johnson, Natalia del Riego, Lucas Till, Aisling Franciosi, Toby Hemingway, Michael Greyeyes, Ryan Hurst, Katelyn Wells, Clayton Cardenas, Elle-Maija Tailfeathers, Brían F. Kurt Sutter exits The Abandons just three weeks before production wraps
Image
Deadline reports that Sons of Anarchy creator Kurt Sutter has exited The Abandons just three weeks before production on the first season of the Netflix series was slated to wrap. As always, the reason apparently comes down to those dreaded creative differences.

The report states that Netflix was concerned when the initial cut of the first episode came in at 1 hour and 40 minutes. It proved impossible to trim the episode down to an hour, so they decided it should be split into two. This required some additional scenes to create a cliffhanger for the new premiere, which have reportedly been written but not shot. After viewing the unfinished split episodes and part of the third, Netflix felt they “looked a bit disjointed and not propulsive enough.” A meeting between Netflix execs and Sutter to address the concerns didn’t take place before he departed.

Beyond going over budget and some alleged “friction with top talent,...

Kurt Sutter Exits His Netflix Series ‘The Abandons’ As Production Nears End
Image
Exclusive: This is a shocker — Kurt Sutter is out of the Netflix series The Abandons just three weeks before the sprawling Western starring Lena Headey and Gillian Anderson is slated to wrap production in Calgary. Sutter was the executive producer/showrunner on the series, which he also created.

The Abandons executive producer/director Otto Bathurst and co-exec producer Rob Askins will oversee the rest of filming — including reshoots, which will continue as scheduled with no new showrunner named. (Sutter and Bathurst are pictured in the above cast photo taken at the start of production in May.) The Abandons is about six episodes into its seven-episode shoot, I hear. Reps for Netflix and Sutter declined comment.

The departure is believed to stem from creative differences over the direction of the big-scale production as it is wrapping filming and headed into post. I hear an alarm went off at Netflix when the...

Ron Perlman Almost Missed Out On Playing SoA's Biggest Villain

Clay Morrow played a pivotal role in FX's Sons of Anarchy, with Ron Perlman delivering a standout performance. Clay's menacing charisma and tough decisions added depth to Samcro, setting the stage for epic and often deadly conflicts. Ron Perlman's perfectly tailored portrayal of Clay Morrow was a casting choice that elevated the show to new heights.

The hit FX series Sons of Anarchy has been widely regarded as one of the most well-cast shows in the history of television. It not only helped elevate the careers of cast members like Charlie Hunnam and Ryan Hurst, but it also included highly memorable performances from legendary Golden Globe-winning talent like Katey Sagal and Ron Perlman in particular. As the villainous Clay Morrow, the uncle/step-father of the protagonist, Jax Teller, Perlman gave a standout performance, channeling a vicious and intimidating energy that fans would be hard-pressed to forget. Beta in The Walking Dead was a country singer before the apocalypse, hiding his identity as a walker. Beta's relationship with his past identity is strained, leading him to kill anyone who recognizes him. The actor who played Beta, Ryan Hurst, is known for powerful roles like Opie in Sons of Anarchy.

Beta's identity in The Walking Dead is an unexpected reveal that sheds more light on one of the most fascinating villains in the entire series. The villains in The Walking Dead are arguably more interesting than the show's heroes. There's a variety of enemies, antagonists, and rivals all with different origins, wants, and levels of villainy. One of the most frightening enemy factions was introduced in season 9 as a secondary antagonist, quickly becoming the major antagonist in the second half of season 9 and season 10.
