A real-life story of a young woman Facebook-stalking her father leads to a paternal friendship with an entirely different man in Bob Trevino Likes It. In fact, the other guy is a total stranger — who just happened to have the exact same name as the woman's actual dad. The new film is based on the inspiring true story of filmmaker Tracie Laymon, and the award-winning indie dramedy hits theaters March 21, 2025. The sensational Barbie Ferreira portrays her with utter grace, with the eponymous friendo who soon enters the heroine's life portrayed a charming (and always reliable) John Leguizamo.
We all know Leguizamo. It's hard to believe that the veteran Bronx native portrayed the tyrannical Tybalt almost 30 years ago in Baz Luhrmann's Romeo + Juliet. Leguizamo is much more likable in this latest fatherly role, to put it mildly. But if you didn't already know of Barbie Ferreira's work, this will be a pleasant surprise.

Just in time for Valentine's Day, you and your loved one can cozy up for a quiet little indie movie that might leave you shedding a tear or two. Veteran actor David Duchovny is all over the film's promotional trailer, but the real star here is Oakes Fegley. You'll recognize him from hit films like The Fabelmans and Pete's Dragon, and in Adam the First he looks a bit more grown-up, playing a troublemaker but with a good heart. It's quite possible you'll enjoy this sweet Mark Twain-type tale that won't exactly rattle cinema as we know it, but the performances by a handful of familiar faces are solid and thought-provoking, especially seeing someone like Duchovny try something different from those iconic roles you know him from.
