Jonathan Glazer's sci-fi thriller "Under The Skin" is the kind of film you call "indescribable." But because this is a written article and not a video essay, I will attempt to do the impossible. We don't know much about the main character in "Under The Skin." We believe she is an alien called Laura. As the film progresses, her eerie detachment morphs into something else entirely.

Presumably, Laura (Scarlett Johansson) has been sent to earth to harvest human specimens for unknown (but terrifying) purposes. Laura arrives in Northern Scotland sporting a perfectly unassuming British accent, luring unsuspecting men into her van and eventually taking them to a derelict house where they thoughtlessly follow her to their deaths. A threatening man on a motorcycle (played by real-life motorcycle racer Jeremy McWilliams) follows her to make sure she gets the job done.

Cinedigm has released an official trailer for an indie action thriller film titled Mission of Honor, about a group of brave, determined Polish pilots in the Raf during World War II. The film was originally titled just Hurricane, but has been retitled for its Us release. Mission of Honor is the story of Squadron 303, a group of heroic pilots who fought in the skies over England in the Battle of Britain. The squadron consisted of Polish pilots, many of whom were veterans of the air battles involved in Germany's invasion of Poland. Equipped with nothing more than obsolete Raf planes and secondhand uniforms, they flew for all of those who had become casualties in one tyrant's quest for power. Scarlett Johansson stars as an alien seductress in the "hypnotically beautiful" (The Atlantic) thriller Under the Skin, arriving on Blu-ray and DVD July 15 from Lionsgate Home Entertainment. The film, which was released theatrically by A24, comes from visionary director Jonathan Glazer (Sexy Beast, Birth). It is a "mind-melting masterpiece" (Village Voice) of existential science fiction that journeys to the heart of what it means to be human, extraterrestrial, or maybe something in between. Filled with Mica Levi's mesmerizing score and stunning visual sequences, the film was nominated for the Golden Lion award at the 2013 Venice Film Festival and four awards at the 2013 British Independent Film Awards, including Best Actress (Scarlett Johansson) and Best Director (Jonathan Glazer). Scarlett Johansson hits the road in search of her latest victim in a new clip from Under the Skin, debuting in limited release April 4, the same day the actress' Captain America: The Winter Soldier opens nationwide. The actress plays Laura, who appears to be just a beautiful woman, but she is actually an alien in disguise, as she scours the countryside of Scotland, using her sexuality to lure men to their death. While we don't get any new information in this scene, since there is no dialogue and we just see Laura driving, it does sets an eerie tone for director Jonathan Glazer's sci-fi thriller, with the help of a Hitchcockian score by Mica Levi.

But it's told with documentary-like conviction and distinctly local details, from James Brown-worshipping war vets to the unexploded ordnance littering the landscape.

Men are so easy. Just ask Scarlett Johansson’s out-of-this-world character in Jonathan Glazer’s “Under the Skin”, based on the book by Michael Faber. Frankly, advance word of the film’s rather episodic, wandering ways just means the movie is a too-faithful adaptation of the Faber book, which was pretty episodic and wandering. Or at least, it was for the first 60-70 or so pages I managed to get through.
