Biography

    • He was born into an artistic family. His father, Adolf Ilin, was a famous actor in The Sverdlovsk Theater and then in The Mayakovsky Theater in Moscow. Vladimir graduated from The Sverdlovsk Theater School in 1969, and afterwards worked in various theaters in Moscow and Kazan. From 1974 through 1989, he was an actor at The Mayakovsky Theater. His first movie role was as a child, when he played a boy named Gaydn on local TV. Despite that, he did not debut on the big screen until 1986, when he played Roman in Moy lyubimyy kloun (1987) ("My Favorite Clown").

      Ilyin was born in Sverdlovsk (renamed Ekaterinburg) in the family of actor Adolf Ilin, who was a leading artist of the Sverdlovsk Theater. Mother - Zinaida Ilyina, pediatrician. He has a brother, Aleksandr Ilin, 4 years younger, also a famous actor.

      From childhood Vladimir learned what theater was - he constantly attended his father's service. From then on, he developed a passion for art and the stage. When he was a teenager, his father left for another woman. Vladimir transferred to a school for working youth - he studied in the evenings and during the day worked as a laboratory assistant at one of the city's chemical enterprises. He attended ballet school and did figure skating.

      After school, he entered the Sverdlovsk Theater School, course of F. Grigoryan. He graduated from it in 1969. He worked at the Skomorokh Theater under the direction of Gennadiy Yudenich, and at the Kazan Theater for Young Spectators. From 1974 to 1989 he served at the Mayakovskiy theater under the leadership of Andrey Goncharov.

      He made his film debut in 1967 with a small role in the film Zhenya, Zhenechka i 'Katyusha' (1967). Then he played several more minor and episodic roles. The first significant work in cinema was the role of Roman Samonovskiy in the film Moy lyubimyy kloun (1987). The next role that made the actor widely known among the public was lawyer Sedov in the film Zashchitnik Sedov (1988). The 1989 film Avariya - doch menta (1990) also had a big success. Vladimir Ilin played the father of the main character. The actor is remembered for his roles as writer Rakhlin in the film Shapka (1990), Artyusha in Roy (1990), servant Savelich in the drama Russkiy bunt (2000), Semyon Lyamkin in the comedy Khochu v tyurmu (1999), journalist German in the melodrama Strelets neprikayannyy (1993).
