  • Made his acting debut in a play called "Freda" at the age of 13.
  • A regular in Christmas pantomime, he has played the dame in "Babes In The Woods" and "Mother Goose".
  • (1969) He made his West End, London stage debut in "Ann Veronica," an original musical based on the novel of the same name by H.G. Wells.
  • (1996) Along with costar Frank Thornton, he was sampled in "Are You Being Served?", a dance remix of the TV show theme music, credited to a dance music group which called itself Grace Brothers and released as a 4-track single, including remixes, by EMI Records.
  • (October 1975) Reached number 39 on the UK singles chart with his novelty single "Are You Being Served Sir?", also featuring Nicholas Smith, and written by Are You Being Served? (1972) creator Jeremy Lloyd.
  • (1979) "Charley's Aunt," comedy revival; written by Brandon Thomas; with John Inman (portraying Lord Fancourt Babberley); Mark Wynter (portraying Jack Chesney); Andrew Knox (portraying Charles Wykeham); Allan Cuthbertson (portraying Colonel Sir Francis Chesney); Derek Francis (portraying Stephen Spettigue); Stacey Gregg (portraying Amy Spettigue); Wendy Padbury (portraying Ela Delahay); and Helen Cherry (portraying Donna Lucia d'Alvadorez) also in the opening night cast; on the West End at the Adelphi Theatre, London, England, UK.
  • (June 1976 - October 1976) Portrayed his signature role of Mr. Wilberforce Claiborne Humphries in the stage version of Jeremy Lloyd and David Croft's "Are You Being Served?", at the Winter Gardens, Blackpool, Lancashire, England, UK.
  • (1964) He acted in Julian Slade and Dorothy Reynolds' musical, "Salad Days", at the New Lyric Theatre in Hammersmith, London, England with Belinda Carroll, Philip Blaine, Trevor Griffiths, Barry Howard and Patrick Duggan in the cast.
  • (1957) At 21, he joined a touring repertory theater company and later appeared in pantomimes as well.
