One Piece Might Finally Be Giving Dragon A New Voice Actor and Damn, It Makes Him Even Cooler Than Before
Image
At long last, One Piecemight finally be giving Dragon a new and improved voice actor. With One Piece having been around for almost 30 years, many of the voice actors will have to be replaced for one reason or another; Franky’s original voice actor, Kazuki Yao, recently retired due to age, and dozens of others have been replaced after tragically passing due to sickness or old age, as well.

Of all the One Piece voice actors failing due to age, however, there’s no clearer example than Monkey D. Dragon’s voice actor, Hidekatsu Shibata. Shibata is now approaching 90, and many fans have complained about how unfitting his elderly voice is for Dragon. That might be changing, however, as recent One Piece episodes suggest that Monkey D. Dragon will be voiced by Kazuhiko Inoue, best known for voicing Kakashi in Naruto; it’s not as cut and dried as people might think,...

10 Best Shonen Anime With the Most Satisfying Endings, Ranked
Image
Endings are a crucial part of any story. No matter how good an anime is, a poorly chosen ending can upset viewers and leave them unsatisfied. Even worse, a bad ending can sour the audience on the entire anime, making them hate the franchise even if they've enjoyed every episode up until that final one. The shonen genre is notorious for this, as due to the nature of the anime industry, many shows get forced to continue until they run out of momentum, eventually ending with a half-hearted whimper rather than a bang.

Thankfully, several shonen series have been able to stick the landing, giving audiences an ending that complements what has come before and rounds off the story in a way that leaves viewers satisfied and fulfilled. But which of these legendary endings is the best?

10 Strongest Anime Characters Jinwoo Could Make His Shadows in Solo Leveling
Image
Sung Jinwoo gained the Shadow Extraction ability at the end of Solo Leveling's first season, and if given the opportunity, Jinwoo could use it to turn some of anime's strongest characters into Shadows. These Shadows fight on Jinwoo's behalf, but he can only turn other living beings into Shadows by killing them first. That said, there are limitations, so it would be best for Jinwoo to target powerful human characters.

These characters may be human, but most possess superhuman abilities that they should still keep, even after becoming Shadows. These characters can help Jinwoo fight the Monarchs, Dungeon monsters and other Hunters. Some of these characters are strong enough to take on S-Rank opponents and Monarchs on their own. Jinwoo's Shadows can regenerate, so as long as he has mana, he can keep summoning them.

Modern Anime Characters That Could Wreck Goku
Image
A major reason for anime's explosive growth over the past two decades is the presence of iconic franchises like Dragon Ball. The Dragon Ball manga and anime have inspired other creators, such as Masashi Kishimoto and Eiichiro Oda, who made Naruto and One Piece, respectively. Dragon Ball, which follows the adventures of the all-powerful Saiyan known as Son Goku, has been a mainstay in the anime medium since it debuted in the 1980s.

Goku's reputation as anime's strongest character is well-deserved — he's literally earned the status of a Super Saiyan God by the events of Dragon Ball Super, placing him on equal footing with various Gods of Destruction. Still, there are several other characters within the medium who, either through sheer power or savvy strategy, could defeat Goku in one-on-one combat.

The Best Anime With Only 12 Episodes
Image
Not all anime need more than twelve episodes to tell a story. Some, despite their short length, manage to portray beautiful stories of any genre with limited episode counts. These anime prove that it's not the number of episodes that matters, but rather the quality of these episodes.

Nearly all anime genres have at least a few series where there are only twelve episodes. Even so, the series' characters can still experience layered growth and development, while the plot naturally progresses and culminates in a satisfying ending. A few anime may have sequel seasons on the horizon, but for the time being, these are accomplished anime with only a dozen episodes to their names.

10 Most Underrated Classic Shojo Anime, Ranked
Image
Shojo is one of anime’s oldest and most influential demographics and plays host to many iconic classics that have changed the medium as fans know it. The most popular shojo series have defined each generation and are beloved by anime fans of all kinds. Titles such as Ouran High School Host Club, Maid-sama!, and Sailor Moon have kept the shojo demographic alive even during its period of steady decline. But while there’s no denying that these shojo classics are some of the best out there and well worth the hype, they overshadow other old-school titles.

The ’90s and 2000s were a peak time for shojo anime, with many of the most iconic series coming from those eras. However, shojo is an expansive demographic that extends as far back as the ‘60s and ‘70s. With such a large catalog, it’s only natural that many great series have faded into obscurity.

10 Shonen Anime That Are Way Better When You're an Adult
Image
One of the best things about shonen anime is the broad appeal, with fans ranging from elementary school kids to teenagers and adults in their 20s and beyond. By default, shonen anime is meant for young male audiences, but anyone of any age may appreciate it, and shonen only gets better with age. Plenty of Millennial and older Gen Z anime fans, for example, are getting more out of these series than they did as kids.

That's because the best shonen anime series are deeper than they seem at first pass. Such anime series are balanced so they are easy for younger audiences to follow, while offering serious personal and thematic depth for older audiences to absorb. It's true that kids and teens may get the basic idea of those deep themes, but fans in their 20s and 30s will think even more deeply about the messages in shonen anime...

10 Best Anime With the Most Toxic Fanbases
Image
This article touches on only a few reasons why each fandom described is toxic, and it is not a critique of any anime mentioned.

A "fandom" is a term used for a sizable collective of people who've fallen in love with the same piece of media, and getting involved in one is an excellent way for fans to gather and share ideas as well as gush about their favorite characters. It's an experience that can give many a sense of camaraderie and belonging. A good deal of mainstream anime — like Naruto, One Piece, and Dragon Ball—can raise communities large enough to overflow a city. But, unfortunately, fandom toxicity becomes an inevitable occurrence because of the sheer number of people partaking in discussions centered on a subject of passion.

Fans can be passionate; it's as simple as that. And there is nothing wrong with loving a work of fiction so ardently.

The Most Underrated Isekai Anime Movies Ever
Image
Isekai's rise to dominance has been the most noticeable anime trend of the last decade. Not an anime season goes past without a new isekai series launching, be it a new original show or a sequel to an existing one. The same is true for isekai anime movies, as they have become increasingly common since the early 2000s, with several new isekai movies arriving at the box office every year.

The downside of this isekai ubiquity is that many good movies get overshadowed by projects with bigger marketing budgets, leading to them getting lost in the shuffle. However, this does mean that anime fans looking for a new isekai experience have a lot of great films to choose from if they don't mind digging a little deeper into the genre's overlooked corners. From passionately delivered classic isekai narratives to creative twists on the usual format, there is an isekai anime movie for every taste.

10 Best Isekai Anime Like KonoSuba
Image
KonoSuba: God's Blessing on This Wonderful World! is the funniest isekai series of all time. It features one of the most frustratingly lovable cast of characters, a world filled with mystery, and some of the best writing in anime, all genres included. When Satou Kazuma is transported to his new world, he's allowed to bring any one thing with him. When the Goddess Aqua laughs at him during this process, he decides to take her instead, creating a hilarious dynamic within the first episode.

To be a great show like KonoSuba, an isekai series needs to have some element of humor. It also needs to have good animation, and at least decent writing. While no show can truly compare with KonoSuba's outrageous humor, some can get close. Still, there are plenty of isekai series out there that are great for anyone who loves watching Kazuma, Darkness, Aqua, and Megumin bumble their way to success.

10 Best Isekai Anime Like Overlord
Image
Overlord is a popular isekai series that marries brutality and humor to create a hilarious show that's not afraid of exploring darker themes. The star at the center of the series is Ainz Ooal Gown. He's left alone in the video game Yggdrasil, but before he was trapped, he was one of the strongest characters in the game. Now he's alone with only his NPCs to keep him company. After discovering his new situation, he set out to dominate the entire world in the hopes that he could find another person like him.

To be a good Overlord isekai comparison, a show doesn't need to be as dark and funny as Overlord, but it certainly doesn't hurt. The best shows like Overlord will have smart companions to guide the main character, an interesting world filled with the promise of adventure, and a broken protagonist with powers so absurd, they stand...

15 Best Male Shojo Protagonists, Ranked
Image
The shojo anime demographic caters mainly to young female audiences, so its no surprise that most protagonists are female themselves. However, it isnt unheard of for a shojo series to star a male lead instead. Though these titles are often rare, there is a surprising amount of great shojo anime out there following a male protagonist. Many of these series never reach the same heights of popularity as the average female-lead shojo, meaning they often go unnoticed.

Male shojo leads can be very different from the classic heroines of the demographic. Their stories tend to center around a wide variety of topics, from classic romances to coming-of-age stories to action-packed adventures. As a result, these unique protagonists add their own flair to the demographic and appeal to audiences of all kinds.

10 Most Hateable Anime Characters Of All Time, Ranked
Image
Some anime characters, while evil, are understandable. They commit irresponsible acts, but when the bigger picture is taken into context, their actions can be comprehended. Other characters are straight up evil for almost no reason. These characters are so despicable, they can be nothing but hated. They use the people in their lives as nothing more than tools to get a job done. Or, they're willing to lie, cheat, and steal their way to the top, justifying their actions with nothing.

These self-righteous characters don't have a good side at all. Itachi Uchiha was once one of the most hated characters in anime until his real motive was revealed, shining a light on a previously unseen side of the Akatsuki member. Shou Tucker used his dog and daughter as an experiment, making him just the worst, plain and simple.

Teachers are crucial in guiding the next generation to success. This is also true in anime. Many anime protagonists would have very different stories without their mentors. Shonen, in particular, has several wonderful teachers who care deeply for their students.

Brilliant teachers like Koro-sensei or Master Roshi are some of the best in shonen. These teachers go above and beyond to ensure the success of their students. Without their instructions, many shonen protagonists would likely never have completed their journeys.

Would Avatar Aang Survive These Anime Universes?
Image
Aang is without question the most powerful character in Avatar: The Last Airbender. As the Avatar, he is a master of all four elements, and an incredibly skilled martial artist. But being at the top of the world in his own series doesn't mean the 13-year-old powerhouse would be able to overcome opponents from outside of it.

Avatar Aang is the greatest Bender in his world, but how would he survive in other anime universes? His prowess in combat, and mastery of air, water, earth, and fire would certainly give him a chance at survival but, in some cases, it may not be enough. Aang would be far stronger than those around him in worlds like Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood's, but he'd be helpless against the cast of Dragon Ball.

10 Best Anime Like Mushoku Tensei
Image
Mushoku Tensei: Jobless Reincarnation is one of the best isekai series of all time. It features one of the biggest and richest worlds in isekai, great, well-rounded characters, and an incredibly divisive main character in Rudeus Greyrat. The story of Mushoku Tensei spans Rudy's entire life, starting with his reincarnation into the new world as a baby and leaving no stone unturned. Rudeus begins the story as a baby, eventually goes to magic college, and even begins a family of his own. While not many other animes are like it, there are a few that could be considered worthy comparisons.

To be a good Mushoku Tensei comparison, a show doesn't need to be an isekai, but it doesn't hurt. The biggest qualities a series in common with Mushoku Tensei would have would be its thorough worldbuilding, a great cast of side characters, and a deep, meaningful story that doesn't leave...

Is Yoriichi Related to Tanjiro in Demon Slayer?
Image
The following contains major spoilers for the Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba manga, by Koyoharu Gotouge, available in English through Viz Media.

Demon Slayer largely revolves around Tanjiro Kamado's journey to save his sister, but there are numerous other characters sprinkled across the series. Yoriichi Tsugikuni is one of the most important and mysterious characters in Demon Slayer's lore. As the creator of Sun-Breathing, the original and most powerful of all Breathing Styles, Yoriichi is the indisputable strongest when it comes to Demon Slayers.

Though he died ages before the series' present day, his Sun-Breathing lives on thanks to Tanjiro, who now wields the strongest Breathing Style and bears a striking resemblance to the Original Sun-Breather. Yoriichi, like many in a world filled with demons, lived a tragic life, but his relationship with the Kamado family provides a surprising twist on one of Demon Slayer's most often asked questions: is Tanjiro related to Yoriichi?...

Directors like Mamoru Hosoda and Makoto Shinkai create films that have the same appeal as the films of Studio Ghibli, offering emotional, visually stunning narratives.
