Hideaki Ito, born in 1975, in Nagasaki, Japan, and raised in Gifu, is a renowned Japanese actor known for his versatility and charismatic presence in both film and television. He graduated from Gifu Prefectural Ginan Technical High School and later moved to Tokyo after having been chosen in a competition for a talent agency for young male actors. Hideaki's breakthrough role came in 2004 when he starred in the film and TV series, "Umizaru", a film about the lives of Japan Coast Guard officers. Each of the Umizaru films ranked in the top 100 highest grossing films in Japan, including both Japanese and Western films. His performance garnered significant attention and cemented his status as a leading actor in Japanese cinema. Throughout his career, Hideaki Ito has displayed a wide range of acting abilities, taking on diverse roles in genres such as drama, action, comedy and historical epics. Notably, he starred in the 2007 film "Sukiyaki Western Django" with Quentin Tarantino. The film was entered in the 64th Venice Film Festival. In 2012, he received critical acclaim for his role as Seiji Hasumi in the thriller "Lesson of the Evil", directed by Takashi Miike. In 2015, he won the Japan Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor in "Wood Job!". In 2022, Hideaki was cast as Jin Miyamoto, a detective in the Tokyo Metropolitan Police Department, in HBO's Tokyo Vice, a crime drama based on the memoir of American journalist Jake Adelstein.
