'Devastated': Ric Flair, Sylvester Stallone and More Pay Tribute to Hulk Hogan After WWE Icon's Death
Image
Pro wrestling icon Terry Gene Bollea, better known by Hulk Hogan, passed away on Thursday. After the shocking news was broken, many of Hogan's contemporaries in the wrestling business are speaking out to pay tribute to the late WWE Hall of Famer. Among them is Ric Flair, a fellow wrestling icon who knew Hogan as a close friend (and sometimes on-screen rival) for decades.

Including images of the two together, Flair's post on X stated in part, "Hulk Has Been By My Side Since We Started In The Wrestling Business. An Incredible Athlete, Talent, Friend, And Father! Our Friendship Has Meant The World To Me. He Was Always There For Me Even When I Didn’t Ask For Him To Be."

I Am Absolutely Shocked To Hear About The Passing Of My Close Friend @HulkHogan! Hulk Has Been By My Side Since We Started In The Wrestling Business.

The Smallville Character You Likely Forgot Dave Bautista Played
Image
Many fans (this writer included), whether they are casual moviegoers or genuine film buffs, seem to be in agreement that Dave Bautista is the best WWE star turned actor. Look no further than his brief role in 2017's "Blade Runner 2049" (a movie that was simply too good to be a box office hit) to see just how much emotional gravitas he can bring to a character, even one with very minimal screen time.

However, before the former WWE champion began tearing it up on the silver screen with heavyweight directors like Denis Villeneuve and James Gunn, he was getting his start on The CW's "Smallville." Bautista made his acting debut in the show's sixth season, playing Aldar, a powerful criminal entity who is accidentally released from the Phantom Zone. While the character only appears in one episode, he leaves an incredibly bloody impression.

Immediately upon his arrival on Earth,...

Brock Lesnar’s Record Is Still Unbeaten: 3 WWE Stars With Most Eliminations in Royal Rumble History and 3 Who Have Been Humiliated the Most
Image
WWE is back with the Royal Rumble season, as the 2025 edition of the show is just days away. The event is set to take place on February 1st at the Lucas Oil Stadium in Indiana, Indianapolis and is expected to be one of the biggest editions in history of the Rumble event.

As the years have gone by, a key record that counts to any superstar’s success in the Royal Rumble match is the total no of eliminations. In regards to the record of eliminations in a single 30-man Rumble match, Brock Lesnar is still unbeaten. The Beast set a new record of 13 eliminations in 2020.

Much like Lesnar, there have been some other names that have secured similar records for Royal Rumble eliminations. But at the same time, many superstars have had embarrassing feats, too, despite participating in the 30-man over-the-top-rope melee multiple times.

Which three WWE superstars have...

Local Lawmakers Beg ‘Politicians, Billionaires, Grifters’ to Stop Pushing Helene Misinfo
Image
First responders and government agencies mobilizing against the devastation of Hurricane Helene have battled collapsed infrastructure and communications outages to reach survivors of the deadly storm. More than a week since Helene ravaged the southeastern United States, a completely man-made phenomenon is hurting rescue and recovery efforts: lies and misinformation.

As government officials in affected states give bipartisan praise to the Biden administration’s response to the storm, Donald Trump and his allies wasted little time in politicizing the response to Helene. The former president has spread baseless claims that...

‘See No Evil’ – WWE’s First Horror Movie Was This 2006 Slasher Starring Kane
Image
With there being an overlap between wrestling fans and horror fans, it only made sense for WWE Studios to produce See No Evil. And much like The Rock’s Walking Tall and John Cena’s The Marine, this 2006 slasher was designed to jumpstart a popular wrestler’s crossover career; superstar Glenn “Kane” Jacobs stepped out of the ring and into a run-down hotel packed with easy prey. Director Gregory Dark and writer Dan Madigan delivered what the WWE had hoped to be the beginning of “a villain franchise in the vein of Jason, Freddy and Pinhead.” In hindsight, See No Evil and its unpunctual sequel failed to live up to expectations. Regardless of Jacob Goodnight’s inability to reach the heights of horror’s greatest icons, his films are not without their simple slasher pleasures.

See No Evil (previously titled Goodnight and Eye Scream Man) was a last gasp for a dying trend.

“This guy is the embodiment of evil”: Michael Myers From Halloween Franchise Helped Create WWE Hall of Famer Kane’s Scary Gimmick
Image
If you are an avid fan of WWE then you must be aware of the various gimmicks the many wrestlers have had over the years. Wrestlers often turn to popular characters from fantasy to film to seek inspiration for their acts, so that fans can find their gimmicks appealing and battle the high competition.

Glenn Jacobs as Kane (Image via WWE)

This could not have been more true for one WWE Hall of Famer, Glenn Jacobs, whose character Kane was inspired by Michael Myers from the Halloween franchise. Although Jacobs carried the name to fame, it was Jim Cornette who was the mastermind behind the character.

Michael Myers Inspired One of the Most Evil Gimmicks in WWE

5 Wrestlers With Great Acting Careers (& 5 Who Failed)
Image
Transitioning from wrestling to acting is a difficult feat, and only a small pool of performers have found success in both industries. Some wrestlers, like Jesse Ventura and John Cena, have managed to establish themselves as successful actors outside of the WWE umbrella. However, not all wrestlers have had the same level of luck, with individuals like Mike Mizanin, Glenn Jacobs, Hulk Hogan, Paul Levesque, and Steve Austin failing to find substantial success in the acting industry.

The transition from wrestler to actor is becoming an increasing phenomenon in Hollywood, with some WWE stars faring better than others. A big part of a wrestler's act is their ability to perform on the mic and sell their character to the audience. However, even those who excel at this aren't guaranteed a successful acting career. Several wrestlers have managed to become huge household names in the acting world, while others quietly nailed less prolific roles.

WWE Hall of Famer Kane, aka Glenn Jacobs, Slammed for Cheering Roe v. Wade Ruling
Image
Glenn Jacobs, who spent more than two decades in WWE’s ring as the sadistic, disfigured wrestler Kane, has taken punishing hits from wrestling fans after he enthusiastically endorsed the Supreme Court ruling Friday overturning Roe v. Wade.

Jacobs, a Republican who is currently the mayor of Knox County, Tenn., rejoiced in a tweet about the court’s historic decision eliminating federal protections for abortion rights.

“Roe v. Wade has been overturned!” Jacobs wrote in the post. “This clears the way for states like Tn to pass stronger protections for the unborn, and is an answer to a prayer for so many. #RightToLife #Victory.”

Jacobs’ praise about the demise of Roe v. Wade elicited dismay and sharp rebukes on social media.

“Respectfully @WWE, please never have Kane return to TV again. It’s a real shame you chose to be a monster inside and outside the ring,” tweeted Superzomgbbq, a U.

Watch the Undertaker Tell Kane He's the Newest Inductee in the WWE Hall of Fame
Image
There's no dispute, Glenn "Kane" Jacobs, one of the most popular and recognizable from World Wrestling Entertainment's "Attitude Era," has just been announced as the newest addition to the company's Hall of Fame. On this week's episode of The Bump, Kane's storyline brother The Undertaker appeared to inform Kane personally that he will be inducted into the Hall of Fame as part of the Class of 2021.

"It is truly my honor to announce that you, Kane, will be the next inductee into the WWE Hall of Fame, the class of 2021," Taker told his old pal. "Well deserved, much earned, and couldn't be more proud of you, brother."

The Undertaker Shows Up on Jimmy Fallon for a Special WWE Halloween Treat
Image
Jimmy Fallon managed to surprise WWE fans with a special appearance from The Undertaker on The Tonight Show. During an Audience Suggestion Box segment on the program this week, Fallon read a note from a fan professing their love for both Halloween and WWE, asking the The Tonight Show host to somehow combine the two. "I can't, but I know who can, and his name... The Undertaker," Fallon says, presenting a clip of the famous wrestler in his WWE attire.

In the segment, The Undertaker steps out from the darkness as his WWE theme music plays in the background. He takes notice of a nearby scarecrow wearing a jack-o-lantern mask, and for whatever reason, the Deadman doesn't like it at all. He grabs the lifeless prop and proceeds to give it the Tombstone piledriver --- his trademark finishing maneuver --- before crossing its arms and going for the pin. The...

WWE's Brothers of Destruction Documentary Is Heading to the Austin Film Festival
Image
The story of Kane and the Undertaker will be told in Brothers of Destruction, a new documentary from WWE Studios set to premiere at Austin Film Festival. Behind the scenes, the two wrestlers are known to their peers as Glenn Jacobs and Mark Calaway, by all accounts a couple of nice fellows without too much in common with their WWE personas. To WWE fans, however, the two are best recognized for portraying the fictional brothers over the course of many years, becoming one of sports entertainment's most popular duos of all time.

Per WWE, Brothers of Destruction aims to break new ground by showing fans "a candid discussion between The Undertaker and Kane about their storied careers for the first time. Intertwined since Kane was introduced as the Undertaker's long-lost brother in 1997, The Big Red Machine and The Deadman have been both bitter enemies and fierce allies, but their relationship...

‘Steve Austin’s Broken Skull Sessions: Kane’ Review (WWE Network Original)
The Broken Skull Sessions began with Steve Austin talking to The Undertaker. The second episode saw Austin talk with Bill Goldberg, and now, on the third episode, we see The Texas Rattlesnake sit down and talk wrestling, politics and life with “The Big Red Machine” Kane.

I was excited when this episode was announced in the same way I was when I heard about Austin’s episode with The Undertaker. Kane is a character I watched from his debut until, well… right now when he makes the odd appearance on WWE television, and his long and winding career has been something I’ve wanted to hear about for a long while. He was, after all, in a similar way to ‘Taker, very protected by WWE as far as hearing real-life stuff from him during his run. I’ve seen Glenn Jacobs speak more about his career than I have The Undertaker,...

WWE Network Original: ‘Photo Shoot – Kane’ Review
Photo Shoot is a show in which a WWE performer, past or present, sits down in a chair in a dark room with a camera pointed at them, and are shown a variety of photographs for half-an-hour from various times in their career, and they make comments on them. We’ve had a whole bunch of episodes since this WWE Original began, from Shane McMahon, Rusev and Ric Flair to Goldust, Jim Cornette and now, The Big Red Machine and Mayor of Knoxville, Tn, Kane.

The concept of the show is simple and effective and while it isn’t especially a deep-dive on the career photography of said performers’ career, it’s still fun to see a series of pictures pop up and hear random stories about each one. With this episode it’s even more interesting because it’s Kane, and Kane, for most of his career was never...

WWE Network Original Reviews: WWE Untold – That’s Gotta Be Kane!
WWE Untold is a WWE Network original series that I’ve been thoroughly enjoying since it began. Discussing topics such as “The Failed Relaunch of WCW”, “The Second Coming of Ecw”, “How Eddie Guerrero Became a SmackDown Legend” and more, it delves into these subjects in a fun snapshot manner and talks, using clips, backstage footage and talking-head interviews, about them.

The new episode is entitled That’s Gotta Be Kane!. Fans will know this famous line of commentary that was uttered by Vince McMahon when he was the lead play-by-play for WWE back in 1997, and that’s what this is all about. The episode talks about the debut of one of the most successful, popular and fascinating gimmicks in pro-wrestling history, Kane, and the things that surrounded it. It looks at the feud that was happening at that time between The Undertaker and Shawn Michaels and the Hell in...

A Conversation With Glenn Jacobs, a.k.a. WWE Star Kane, Who Was Elected Mayor in Tennessee
Glenn Jacobs
For most of his professional life, Glenn Jacobs was not known by his real name. He was Kane, the WWE superstar who, as the disfigured younger brother of The Undertaker, won pretty much every championship the organization had to offer. Though the 51-year-old never officially left the ring, his given name has taken precedence in recent years. Jacobs and his wife Crystal own an insurance agency and real estate company in Knoxville, Tennessee, and last April he announced his candidacy for Knox County mayor. About 13 months and tens of thousands of knocked-doors later,...

Glenn Jacobs
WWE star Kane, real name Glenn Jacobs, can add to his long list of wins: he’s the next mayor of Knox County, Tennessee.

Jacobs, running as a Republican, defeated Democrat Linda Haney on Thursday to become the county’s 29th mayor, earning 31,739 votes to Haney’s 16,611. He secured his party’s nomination in May.

In Knox County, “mayor” is the title used by the county administrator. It is an entirely distinct office from the mayor of the city of Knoxville, the Knox County seat. Knoxville’s current mayor is Democrat Madeline Rogero.

25 Unsung Christmas Icons
Gavin Jasper Dec 24, 2018

Sometimes you have to give the Santas and Frostys a rest and celebrate the holiday folks who don't get the spotlight.

It’s holiday time and that means celebrating all the big guns of the Christmas season. The likes of Jesus, Santa, Frosty, Rudolph, Krampus, the Grinch, Ebenezer Scrooge, George Bailey, and – depending on how much time you spend at Hot Topic – Jack Skellington. But there are so many Christmas-themed characters who don’t get the same red carpet treatment.

Let’s take a second to give a little extra love to the yuletide heroes and villains who hang out on the second or third tier of Christmas cheer.

Bad Mister Frosty

I’ve spoken at length about the history of ClayFighter before. The stop-motion, comedic fighting game featured only three installments (plus upgrades) and one of the two characters to appear in every game is Bad Mr.

The Undertaker: a look at his 23-1 WrestleMania record
Gavin Jasper Apr 3, 2017

As the Undertaker announces his retirement, we look back at his Wrestlemania record...

This article is from Den Of Geek Us.

WrestleMania XXX was an eventful show. It calmed the fears of those afraid that it would crash the WWE Network and cause major damage to the company's latest venture. Cesaro broke away from his tag team and broke out by winning the Andre the Giant Memorial Trophy. Hulk Hogan, Steve Austin, and the Rock hung out in the ring and had a blast. Mr. T and Roddy Piper buried the hatchet. Daniel Bryan went through an endless supply of punishment before being defeating Triple H, Randy Orton, and Batista.

That was a big moment and a major story, but the thing people will be talking about for a long time is the end of Undertaker vs. Brock Lesnar. For the first time ever, Undertaker lost at...

Remake of Cold Prey In Development at WWE Studios
Before Roar Uthaug (director of the upcoming Tomb Raider reboot) introduced moviegoers to a towering force of nature in The Wave, he took viewers on a deadly snowboarding vacation in the 2006 slasher film Cold Prey (aka Fritt Vilt), and a remake of the Norwegian film is now in development at WWE Studios.

Deadline reports that WWE Studios has picked up rights to remake Cold Prey, with Casey La Scala (The Remaining) penning the screenplay.

No casting details are known at this time, but it wouldn’t be surprising if we saw a wrestler cross over to star in the remake à la Glenn “Kane” Jacobs in WWE’s See No Evil movies.

The original Cold Prey followed a group of snowboarders who sought refuge at an abandoned hotel, and instead found someone sinister waiting for them… The horror film spawned a sequel in 2008 and a prequel in 2010.

We’ll keep...

Deadly Pleasures: See No Evil (2006)
Anyone who knows me knows that if a movie stars a professional wrestler, I’m immediately happy as a film fan. Yeah, I’m probably easily impressed, but still, whenever I see my favorite WWE (or otherwise) superstars make the leap to the world of feature films, it makes my inner child giddy. As a kid, it was the reason I first rented They Live, it was the reason I begged my mom mercilessly to see No Holds Barred in theaters, and when I learned in late 1986 that Jesse “The Body” Ventura was going to be co-starring in Predator, the next summer could not get here fast enough.

Even as an adult, I’m always a big fan of seeing wrestlers transition to movies, and that has a lot to do with my soft spot for Gregory Dark’s See No Evil. It features Glenn Jacobs (also known as “Kane...

Sony To Remake Mia Farrow's '70s Horror 'See No Evil'
While the pro wrestler Kane starred in two forgettable "See No Evil" movies in 2006 and 2014, neither had anything to do with Mia Farrow's 1971 thriller of the same name. It might not be the most popular flick of the genre to emerge from that decade, but it is cherished by some, so of course it's getting remade. Read More: 7 Things You Should Know About Roman Polanski's 'Rosemary's Baby' Sony is dusting off the title and has decided to give it a fresh coat of paint. The Richard Fleischer-directed original followed a blind woman who goes to her uncle's home, only to discover that her family has been murdered —she must then escape the maniac responsible for the killings. Mike Scannell will pen the new version, but there's no word yet on what his take on the concept might be. If you have any ideas about who should direct,...

‘Countdown’ VOD Review
Stars: Nick Nemeth, Glenn Jacobs, Katharine Isabelle, Josh Blacker, Alexander Kalugin, Michael Kopsa, Alan O’Silva, Catherine Lough Haggquist, Jennifer Cheon, Luke Roessler, Zinaid Memisevic, Alexander Mandra | Written by Michael Finch, Richard Wenk | Directed by John Stockwell

Now this is more like it! After finding success in the horror genre and taking a step up in the world with big(ger) budget films starring big name stars, such as Halle Berry in The Call and films like Oculus, WWE Studios have seemingly returned to the low-budget, WWE superstar featuring action movies that originally peaked my interest in the “studio” back in the early 2000s – in the days of The Condemned, 12 Rounds and The Marine – with Countdown.

Countdown sees the WWE give one of their most charismatic underdog “characters” Dolph Ziggler (aka Nick Nemeth) a chance to shine in an action hero role as Ray Thompson, a take-no-prisoners-get-the-job-done cop haunted by...

Tommy Dreamer & Baron Corbin Surprise Entrants In WrestleMania 32 Battle Royal?
WWE.com

Tommy Dreamer and Baron Corbin could be surprise entrants in tonight’s third annual Andre The Giant Memorial Battle Royal at WrestleMania 32.

Wrestling Observer Radio’s Dave Meltzer noted today that there’s at least one surprise entrant expected in the match tonight and those two names were rumoured the strongest.

Former Ecw favourite Dreamer last appeared for WWE several months ago during The Dudley Boyz’s hardcore-style feud with the Wyatt family where he competed in a couple of matches in the last few weeks of 2015.

Corbin, who lost to a debuting Austin Aries at Friday night’s Nxt Dallas: Takeover show, has long been touted as a strong candidate for the main roster and perhaps an appearance in the Battle Royal tonight will be the beginning of a permanent switch to Raw and SmackDown.

Meanwhile, it has also been noted that Mark Henry has been pulled...
