It’s one of the least-liked episodes of the much-loved Only Fools And Horses – but the feature-length A Royal Flush had problems behind the scenes.

Dick Pope, the veteran British cinematographer who worked on 11 movies with director Mike Leigh, has died Tuesday, the British Society of Cinematographers said in a statement. He was 77.

No cause of death was given, but Leigh told Indiewire that Pope had undergone “major heart surgery” before work began on Hard Truths, their last collaboration that premiered at the Toronto Film Festival last month.

Pope received Oscar nominations for his work on Leigh’s Mr Turner and the mystery The Illusionist by director Neil Burger. Pope and Leigh also worked together on movies like Life Is Sweet in 1990, Naked, Topsy-Turvey, Vera Drake and Secrets & Lies.

The comedian posted a throwback photo of the pair out on a country walk 19 months after Lock died of cancer.

During Tuesday (28 March) morning’s episode of the ITV show, Madeley and co-host Susanna Reid discussed recent news that a group of Britain’s top lawyers have stated that they will refuse to prosecute climate activists.

Madeley suggested that there would be a “complete collapse” of the criminal justice system if “barristers and lawyers” are not prosecuting activists.

“It doesn’t work, because they have to be completely impartial,” he said.

Sir David Jason has described his “delight” after learning that he has a 52-year-old daughter he didn’t know existed.

In a new interview, the Only Fools and Horses star shared his surprise after learning that a brief relationship he had with actor Jennifer Hill in 1970 resulted in the birth of Abi Harris.

Following the revelation, Jason, 82, is said to be building a relationship with Harris – who is also an actor – along with her 10-year-old son Charlie.

Thierry Frémaux is weeks away from unveiling the line-up for the 2023 festival, which is expected to debut Martin Scorsese’s Killers of the Flower Moon and new Indiana Jones film, Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny.

During an interview discussing the forthcoming edition, Fremaux was asked about the recent Oscars ceremony, which saw Everything Everywhere All at Once win seven awards, including Best Actress for Michelle Yeoh and Best Director for duo Daniel Scheinert and Daniel Kwan.

Keanu Reeves is playing the strong and silent type in John Wick: Chapter 4, with only 380 words of dialogue in the whole three-hour movie.

The fourth instalment of the action thriller franchise, which is 169 minutes long, sees Reeves speak very few lines of dialogue, almost a third of which consists of just one word, such as “yeah”.

John Wick: Chapter 4 was analysed by The Wall Street Journal, which reported that “about 10 per cent of [Wick’s lines] are featured in the movie’s trailer, which makes the hero seem almost chatty”.

Wick reportedly says more in that 2.5 minute clip than he does in the first 25 minutes of the film.

Director Chad Stahelski explained that Wick, a legendary hitman in the criminal underworld, has very few lines because Reeves “stripped out roughly half the dialogue written for his character in the initial script”.

Jeremy Clarkson has called on the BBC to “save” Top Gear.

Last week, it was announced that filming will not resume on the current series of Top Gear after presenter Freddie Flintoff was involved in an accident during filming in December.

Mark Ruffalo has called Jeremy Renner an “inspiration to all” after the actor shared that he is able to walk on a treadmill months after his New Year’s Day accident.

On Sunday (26 March), Renner posted a clip to Twitter in which he can be seen walking.

“I now have to find Other things to occupy my time so my body can recover from my will,” the Hawkeye star wrote, accompanying the post with the hashtags: “#Mindful #Intended #Recovery.”

The following day, Ruffalo retweeted the post, adding: “Amazing. An inspiration to all. #Inspired.”

Nathan Lane has recalled the moment that Robin Williams “swooped in” to save him from discussing his sexuality on a talk show.

The Modern Family star, 67, shared the heartwarming anecdote during an interview on Sunday Today With Willie Geist.

He and Williams were set to appear on The Oprah Winfrey Show to promote their 1996 LGBTQ+ comedy The Birdcage.

Lane recalled (as per Et Canada) that he felt nervous before the show, telling host Willie Geist: “I said to Robin beforehand… ‘I’m not prepared to discuss, you know, that I’m gay on national television. I’m not ready.”

The actor said that Williams put his mind at ease, before helping him out on stage as well.

The former co-stars played central characters, Derek Trotter aka Del Boy and Marlene Boyce in the beloved British sitcom.

To mark the occasion, the pair took a selfie, which Holderness posted to her social media.

While remakes can experiment with new actors, most reboots and revivals need the original actors to make sense. For instance, Fuller House, being a revival of an ensemble show, can get around Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen's absence by focusing on the rest of the cast, introducing new characters, and skirting around Michelle's whereabouts, but a show that's centered around its titular character, like Frasier, has no choice...

It's an old adage that comedy doesn't travel well, but some shows definitely fare better than others. As a Brit, I've met many Americans with a creepy zeal for quoting sketches from "Monty Python's Flying Circus" at me. "Red Dwarf" is hugely popular where I live in the Czech Republic. Challis died in September 2021 of cancer. He was 79.

The actor was best known for portraying Terrance Aubrey “Boycie” Boyce in the long-running BBC sitcom.

His wife Carol Challis shared a photo of her late husband’s grave to Twitter, giving fans who wish to visit directions on how to get there.

Some people noticed that a touching tribute on the headstone is a reference to a one-liner famously spoken by his character in Only Fools and Horses.

The headstone reads: “John Challis – actor – 1942-2021.” Below are the words: “I am here.”

Fans will recognise the phrase from an episode of Only Fools in which a psychic named Elsie is hosting a seance with Boycie, Del Boy (David Jason), and Rodney Trotter (Nicholas Lyndhurst).

Jason David Frank, best known for his role in Mighty Morphin Power Rangers, has died aged 49.

A representative for Frank, Justine Hunt, confirmed his death to Yahoo on Sunday 20 November.

“Unfortunately, it is true. Please respect the privacy of his family and friends during this horrible time as we come to terms with the loss of such a wonderful human being,” Ms Hunt of Hines and Hunt Entertainment said.

“He loved his family, friends and fans very much. He will be truly missed.”

An official cause of death has not been disclosed, but multiple reports have indicated Frank died by suicide.

Frank’s Power Rangers costar Walter Emanuel Jones paid tribute to the actor in a statement to People, calling him “an inspiration to so many”.

The BBC programme won the top spot in a poll revealed by TV channel Gold to celebrate 30 years of the comedy channel.

In the scene, Del Boy – played by Sir David Jason – goes to lean back on the bar that he had been resting on. However, he hadn’t noticed that the bar was a liftable slot for waiters to move through.

As he goes to lean back on it while saying “play it nice and cool son, nice and cool” the bar slot is lifted, causing him to fall straight onto the ground. Meanwhile, his friend Trigger turns around to look for him.

If the theatrical re-release of Steven Spielberg's Jaws is any indication, audiences are still clamoring for classic thrillers. The 1990s were pretty great for the genre, with Basic Instinct, The Sixth Sense, and The Silence Of The Lambs all coming out within the same decade. But those big titles are just the beginning, as the '90s were also responsible for some of the genre's most criminally underseen entries to date.

Many excellent films didn't receive their due credit in theaters. Audiences ignored everything from gritty cop dramas starring Jamie Lee Curtis and Laurence Fishburne to high-concept box office bombs such as Nick Of Time and Hard Rain. In other words, the decade's contributions to the thriller genre are noteworthy, even if audiences didn't pick up on their quality at first.

The cast of Only Fools and Horses have delighted fans with a reunion photo taken almost two decades after the final episode aired.

The hit series, which starred David Jason and Nicholas Lyndhurst as half-brothers Derek Edward “Del Boy” Trotter and Rodney Chalrton Trotter, ran from 1981 to 1991.

Jason and Lyndhurst reprised their roles in several Christmas special episodes until the early 2000s, with the final episode airing on 25 December in 2003.

During a recent convention, several of the cast members were spotted back together.

One fan snapped a photo with the group, which included Philip Pope (who played Tony Angelino), Michael Fenton Stevens (Alan Perkins), Daniel Peacock (Mental Mickey), and Patrick Murray (Mickey Pearse).

The owners of iconic British comedy show “Only Fools and Horses” have won a copyright battle against an “Only Fools”-themed dining show.

“Only Fools The (cushty) Dining Experience” is billed as an “interactive dining show” in which diners are subsumed into the world of the long-running TV series, which aired on BBC 1 between 1981 and 1991, with actors dressed as the characters delivering a part-scripted, part-improvized performance.

In a judgment handed down today, Deputy High Court Judge John Kimbell found in favor of Shazam Productions, a production company owned by the heirs of John Sullivan, creator of “Only Fool and Horses.”

Sullivan died in 2011 but his wife Sharon and children James, Dan and Amy, continue to run Shazam Productions as a vehicle for exploiting the “Only Fools and Horses” IP. Among the projects they have granted a license to are board games, books and a musical co-written by James Sullivan and comedian Paul Whitehouse.

Netflix has greenlit A Day and a Half, a Swedish action film directed by, written by and starring Chernobyl and Westworld star Fares Fares. Fares will play police officer Lukas, tracking down leads Artan (Alexej Manvelov) and Louise (Alma Pöysti), a divorced couple on an emotionally-charged road trip when Artan takes Louise hostage to reunite with his daughter. The journey takes them through rural Sweden during a hot summer, all while having police on their heels. Warner Bros. International TV Production is producing and Fares is also writing alongside Peter Smirnakos. Netflix Director of Film, Nordics, Claire Willats, called A Day and a Half “in essence an intimate story about loss, lies, betrayals, love, prejudice and family.” Earlier this week, Amazon Prime Video ordered its debut Nordic original TV series Toppen, which recently entered production.

There will be 1,300 performers and 500 horses at the Windsor Castle event, which will also feature the likes of Andrew Lloyd Webber, Ant & Dec, Dame Joan Collins, Sir Mo Farah, Dame Maureen Lipman, Sir David Jason, Alan Titchmarsh and Dame Kelly Holmes.

The huge stars are commemorating 60 years on the throne for the Queen, who is now the longest-serving monarch, on 15 May.

Mirren, who played Elizabeth in 2006’s The Queen, will play Queen Elizabeth I during a theatrical event while a cast of Queens Players are introduced by a character played by comedian Omid Djalili.

Cruise and Lewis will oversee two of four theatrical events alongside Titchmarsh and Adjoa Andoh.
