The running joke in Community is that it’ll get six seasons and a movie.
The show fulfilled that six-season prophecy during its run on NBC from 2009 until 2015.
Fans were very excited to hear that the Community movie was officially announced in 2022, with production expected to start in 2024.
(Vivian Zink/NBC)
But over the past few years, the timeline has become increasingly delayed, and there’s only been sporadic news that creator Dan Harmon and the cast have shared.
At this point, I think it’s time to face the cold, hard truth: it might be time to accept that the Community movie is never happening.

KPop Demon Huntersstar Arden Cho addressed what happened to Jinu and whether he will return. The popular animated movie centers on Huntr/x, a K-pop musical group that protects the world from demons. Alongside Cho, who voices Rumi, the cast of KPop Demon Hunters includes May Hong, Ji-young Yoo, Ken Jeong, and Ahn Hyo-seop.
Jinu (Ahn) is initially intent on challenging Huntr/x, but he has a change of heart when he discovers that Rumi is part demon. While he abandoned his family and is working for Gwi-Ma (Lee Byung-hun), Jinu grows close to Rumi, who seeks to help him. However, he appears to die in the end.
During an interview with Collider, Cho addressed whether Jinu is actually dead and if he could return in a potential KPop Demon Hunters sequel. Without directly confirming Jinu's fate, Cho revealed that she did not want to imagine he had really died.

K-pop has become such a global music phenomenon that it’s a wonder its groups haven’t been tapped to star in more Hollywood movies. Netflix has somewhat rectified that with an animated musical that has seemingly come out of nowhere to become one of its most popular offerings ever (take that, Adam Sandler).
It’s not hard to see why. KPop Demon Hunters delivers not only a cornucopia of earworms whose melodies will be lingering in your brain for weeks, but also a fast and funny genre mash-up that puts most theatrical animated releases to shame. Considering that the accompanying soundtrack album has been conquering the charts as well, sequels are all but inevitable.
The titular heroes are the superstar girl group Huntr/x (be advised that’s the last time I’ll be typing that name), consisting of Rumi (Arden Cho), Mira (May Hong) and Zooey (Ji-young Yoo...

Sony Pictures Animation’s animated hit, now streaming on Netflix, continues to smash records.
It became the first Netflix original film to reach a new viewing peak in its sixth week and is now the most popular animated Netflix movie of all time, per the streamer. The film’s music, particularly the track “Golden,” has reclaimed the number one spot on the Billboard 200.

We’re eagerly awaiting the crisp feel of Fall, the cozy vibes of a murderous small town, and the heartfelt drama of our favorite hospital.
Fortunately, we won’t have to wait long for it, as Fox has officially released its lightly scripted but impactful Fall schedule for its many series.
We know most of you are locked in on that scripted content, so we’re happy to say that Murder in a Small Town and Doc come together for a killer good night of TV! Are Tuesdays the new Thursdays? It feels like it.

Sadly, there isn’t much scripted television programming floating around outside of CBS. Many of the other broadcast networks have leaned heavily into reality programming, competition shows, and sports.
Even Fox has a heavy slate of competition, including reality-type shows and animated programming.

Plans to bring the Community gang back together for a reunion movie have been on the table for years, but the project has yet to officially set a production start date. Star Alison Brie has commented on the current status of the film, but it's a disappointing update for fans.
Brie addressed the film while at San Diego Comic-Con to promote her new movie, Together, via ScreenRant. When asked about an update on Community: The Movie, Brie said there was nothing whatsoever new to report. She then shared that the project is "sort of paused," still with no concrete plans to actually start filming.
"I truly have nothing to say about the Community movie," Brie stated. "It's sort of paused, and we're all -- I know the cast is really rooting for it. We all love each other so much and would love to get back on set someday."

After six seasons and movie, two Community characters might finally seal the deal if Alison Brie has her way.
The 2x Golden Globe nominee recently revealed her hopes for her character Annie Edison in the long-awaited feature adaptation of the NBC/Yahoo series, while sharing an update on the production schedule.
“There’s no update,” she told husband and Together co-star Dave Franco in a sit-down for Entertainment Tonight. “I would say it’s paused due to a number of factors. The entire cast is still enthusiastically on board to do the movie.”
Brie added, “Something I would love to see for Annie is full sex with Jeff Winger. You know, I think an X-rated Community movie would consummate that ‘will they, won’t they.'”
During the show’s six-season run from 2009 to 2015, recent high school graduate Annie and disgraced fake lawyer Jeff (Joel McHale) carried on a flirtation...

It’s been over a decade since Community first graced our screens, and honestly, we’re still not over it. Dan Harmon‘s meta-textual masterpiece about a ragtag study group at Greendale Community College didn’t just break the fourth wall; it completely demolished it, creating something that was equal parts sitcom, cultural commentary, and love letter to everything we geek out about.
While streaming platforms keep introducing new fans to Jeff Winger’s crew, those of us who lived through the original run can’t help but get nostalgic for what made this show absolutely magical.

Let’s be real, nothing could have prepared us for “Modern Warfare.” One minute we’re watching a typical community college sitcom, and the next we’re in the middle of a full-blown action movie parody that somehow managed to have genuine emotional stakes.

Tyler Perry (Sistas) has proven himself as a valuable asset to Netflix. Just recently, the comedian and filmmaker managed to take over the streamer's charts with the surprise hit movie Straw, which dominated the global Top 10 and accumulated millions of views. It was pretty safe to say that the new installment of the Madeafranchise, Madea's Destination Wedding, would be a top performer – and it was. The new movie just didn't count on a dark horse that is quickly becoming one of Netflix's biggest hits ever: KPop Demon Hunters.
This past week, the animated movie continued its winning streak among the Netflix Top 10 globally. Ever since it premiered, the movie has ranked among the most-watched titles on the platform, and this week it added 24 million views to its total – which, at 80 million views, makes it one of Netflix's biggest animated movies ever. KPop Demon Hunters has risen back to the top of a major streaming chart. The Netflix hit is an animated fantasy musical about a KPop girl group, Huntr/x, who moonlight as demon hunters and face off against the demonic boy band Saja Boys. The KPop Demon Hunters cast includes Arden Cho, Daniel Dae Kim, Lee Byung-hun, and Ken Jeong.
The movie, which is on track to have Netflix's most-watched animated feature launch in history, was previously toppled from its position at No. 1 on the platform's daily Top 10 movies chart in the U.S. by the Tyler Perry sequel Madea's Destination Wedding, which is performing well in spite of its dismal 15% score on Rotten Tomatoes.
However, per Netflix's latest daily chart, KPop Demon Hunters is back on top in the United States. On July 18, it pushed Madea's Destination Wedding down to No. 2, climbing back up to its perch at No.

It has become a classic trope where the main character gets to play the hero and steal the spotlight in the show or movie they are in. But that is not always the case. Sometimes, those scene-stealing sidekicks, chaotic best friends, mysterious mentors, or one morally grey wildcard can bring more spice than the leads. Honestly, they make us laugh harder, cry unexpectedly, and, in a way, leave us wanting more of their character arc.
We hope you understand the type we’re talking about here—the fan-favorite side characters who didn’t just support the story, but rather elevated it to the next level. Yep, the ones whose screen time was too short, whose backstories were definitely worthy of dying to explore, and whose solo series could actually outshine the originals. Honestly? Sometimes, some of these side characters felt like they were auditioning for their own show all along,...

Regardless of any movie's reception, many Netflixoriginals have done exceptionally well on the streaming charts. Such was the case with Tyler Perry's recent movie, Straw, which was released on Netflix on June 6. Despite Straw getting mixed reviews among critics, it was an instant hit among audiences, who gave it generally strong approval and kept the film on the charts. A similar outcome happened with the 2024 holiday thriller Carry-On, which now ranks as one of the most popular Netflix movies of all time.
2025 has also allowed a number of key strategic decisions to materialize for the streamer. One of the big initiatives has seen Netflix put a concerted effort into its Korean-language content. Squid Game has been a huge driver of this trend, as it helped to bring K-dramas to more global attention. The series has also made some of the show's main stars far more recognizable on a global level.

If you are a Community fan and own a Hulu subscription, next month will be a great one for you. This week, the streaming platform announced that all seasons of the cult comedy are being added to the library, and you can start binging as early as July 3. In case you missed the series, this is the perfect chance to find out why it became such a high-rated show back when it started airing in 2009. The entire story has six seasons – and a movie that has been in the works for a decade.
One of the reasons why Community became as popular as it did is because pretty much every episode contains a ton of references to other shows and movies. It could go as big as referencing Batman movies but also use some lesser-known references to inspire an entire episode, like the one built around the 1981 cult comedy My Dinner With Andre.

A new Netflix movie starring one of the leads of Squid Game is doing well on Rotten Tomatoes. The South Korean survival thriller Squid Game is one of the streaming service's biggest original series of all time, with season 1's 256.2 million views making it the most-watched season on the platform and season 2's 192.6 million making it the third most-watched. The series, which was created by Hwang Dong-hyuk, follows a group of adults competing in deadly children's games for a big cash prize.
Because most of the core characters were killed over the course of season 1, there are very few members of the Squid Game cast who have appeared in both seasons. These core stars include Lee Jung-jae as Seong Gi-hun (Player 456), Wi Ha-joon as Detective Hwang Jun-ho, and Lee Byung-hun as Hwang In-ho (The Front Man). All three stars are also set to appear in the upcoming season 3, which is set to conclude the series.

The animated musical action-fantasy film KPop: Demon Hunters has premiered on Netflix. A collaboration between Sony Pictures Animation and the streaming platform, the movie centers on a globally renowned K-pop girl group who lead a double life. When not performing for sold-out stadiums, they are secretly demon hunters. The story introduces the core conflict where the heroines must protect their fanbase from supernatural threats, which takes the form of their biggest challenge yet: a rival boy band whose members are demons in disguise. The film’s premise combines the global cultural phenomenon of K-pop with the enduring appeal of supernatural action, a fusion designed to engage distinct yet overlapping audiences.
