'I Never Liked Him': Zachary Levi Receives Harsh Criticism From 1 Former Co-Star
Image
Zachary Levi's career took a hit in 2024, and he's further from being a real-life superhero than he's ever been. The Shazam! actor shared several conspiracy theories on his social media that made him less popular with fans and fellow actors.

In a new interview on That's a Gay Ass podcast, Zachary Levi's former Broadway co-star Laura Benanti shared she is not a fan of the actor. Benanti and Levi shared the stage in the second Broadway revival of the musical She Loves Me, where she played Amalia and he played Georg. Their co-stars also included 30 Rock's Jane Krakowski, Byron Jennings, Michael McGrath, and late actor Gavin Creel, among others.

Laura Benanti Says “F*** You Forever” to Former Broadway Co-Star Zachary Levi
Image
There’s no love lost between She Loves Me lovebirds, Laura Benanti and Zachary Levi.

Though they shared the Broadway stage in a successful and Tony Award-winning 2016 musical revival, Benanti made it clear in a new podcast interview that she was never a fan of Levi, who at the time was a successful TV star from NBC’s Chuck and on his way to movie stardom as the title character in DC’s Shazam! “I never liked him,” Benanti told Eric Williams on his That’s a Gay Ass Podcast. “Everyone was like, ‘He’s so great!’ And I was like, ‘No, he’s not. He’s sucking up all the fucking energy in this room. He wants to mansplain everybody’s part to them.'”

Directed by Scott Ellis and choreographed by Warren Carlyle, the Roundabout Theatre Company production starred Benanti and Levi opposite Jane Krakowski, Gavin Creel, Byron Jennings,...

‘Days Of Wine And Roses’ Sets Closing Notice, The Latest Broadway Production To Bow Out Before Spring Crush
Image
Days of Wine and Roses, the critically acclaimed musical adaptation of the 1962 film, will play its final Broadway performance on Sunday, March 31, just about two months after its January 28 opening night.

The production becomes the third in recent weeks to announce that it would vacate the Broadway boards just as the industry gears up for one of the busiest springs in memory. Spamalot, which opened last November, announced yesterday that it would close Sunday, April 7, while A Beautiful Noise, The Neil Diamond Musical will play its final performance on Sunday, June 30; the production opened December 4, 2022.

All three of the soon-to-close shows have been struggling at the box office in recent weeks. Last week, Days of Wine and Roses, with a book by Craig Lucas and music and lyrics by Adam Guettel, grossed just $364,686, filling only 55% of seats at Broadway’s Studio 54.

The musical, which began previews on Broadway January 6 and...

‘Days of Wine and Roses’ reviews: ‘Sophisticated’ new musical stars ‘superb’ Kelli O’Hara, Brian d’Arcy James
Image
Sixty-two years after the release of the film “Days of Wine and Roses,” the Oscar-winning movie by writer J.P. Miller and director Blake Edwards, a musical adaptation has opened on Broadway with a score by Adam Guettel. The story of two characters brought together and torn asunder by alcohol stars Kelli O’Hara and Brian d’Arcy James in the roles played in the movie by Lee Remick and Jack Lemmon. The production opened at Studio 54 on Jan. 28.

In addition to reuniting Guettel and O’Hara, who collaborated on “The Light in the Piazza,” the librettist Craig Lucas from that musical contributed the book for this new venture. The ensemble cast includes Tabitha Lawing and Byron Jennings in pivotal roles under the helm of director Michael Greif.

Theatre critics were largely positive about this new Guettel musical. It earns a Critic’s Pick from Laura Collins-Hughes (New York Times), who praises the “superb” performances,...

Michelle Williams at an event for The Oscars (2017)
An emotional Michelle Williams praised FX and Fox 21 Television Studios, thanking them for their support and for “paying me equally” in her acceptance speech for her Emmy win for outstanding actress in a limited series or movie for Fosse/Verdon. Ethan Hawke at an event for One Last Thing... (2005)
After three years on the boards, Spider-Man: Turn Off the Dark has decided to call it quits on Jan. 5 after a tumultuous, headline-grabbing ride on Broadway that will result in a reported $60 million loss. Will producers be leery of investing in the next wave of in-development super-musicals (including a buzzed-about King Kong that is eyeing New York after a successful run in Melbourne). Meanwhile, this week’s openings are significantly less costly, including Ethan Hawke’s first Shakespeare turn on Broadway in 10 years, Tony winner Jefferson Mays in an eight-role bonanza, a first-time play by actress Amanda Peet with some heavy-hitting leads,...

Daniel Day-Lewis in Full Costume on the set of Lincoln
Here's our first look at Daniel Day-Lewis in full costume as Abraham Lincoln on the Richmond, Virginia set of Steven Spielberg's highly anticipated film Linclon. In a previous image we saw Day-Lewis sporting the Lincoln look while eating lunch, but he was only wearing regular clothes in that image. Watching Day-Lewis lose himself in the roles he plays is always amazing for me to see. Day-Lewis has become Lincoln! What are your thoughts on the image above?

The story is based on the book by Doris Kearns Goodwin called Team of Rivals, and it will chronicle Lincoln's efforts to abolish slavery and end the civil war. Joseph Gordon Levitt (Inception) will portray Lincoln's eldest son Robert Todd Lincoln, who was the only one of Abe's children to live past their teen years. Tommy Lee Jones (No Country For Old Men) is being tapped to play Thaddeus Stevens,...

First Incredible Look at Daniel Day-Lewis as Abraham Lincoln!
Here's our first look at what Daniel Day-Lewis will look like as Abraham Lincoln in Steven Spielberg's long awaited Lincoln film, and holy crap! I was excited as hell when I first heard Day-Lewis was cast in the role on Lincoln, there's was no doubt he would bring an incredible performance, but seeing him in this image gives me freakin' goosebumps! I'm completely floored by how much he looks like Lincoln in this picture. He's not even in costume! He's just eating lunch channeling the spirit of Lincoln! It was previously reported that that Day-Lewis “hasn’t broken his Lincoln accent since March” and and that he will have the the "high-pitched tone Lincoln is infamous for."

What do you all think of Day-Lewis' Lincoln look?

Lincoln is being directed by Stephen Spielberg and stars will chronicle Lincoln's efforts to abolish slavery and end the civil war.
